Update: Please now email your pledges to Info@landlordsalliance.co.uk

For the past 18 months, I have mulled over the idea of setting up a new National Landlords association. I won’t bore readers to death explaining why. We all know how frustrated and sickened the community is with the other main associations failing to aggressively fight our corner and instead assist the councils implementing their rotten Selective licensing schemes. Enough is enough.

We could talk forever, but it is now time for action. I have held off taking this leap in the hope that somebody else would take up the baton. I completely understand the reluctance of anybody to get involved. Mark summed it up. A most time consuming venture.

As things stand now, the show is almost ready for the road.

I have set up the National Landlords Alliance. Before I go any further if the National Landlords Association wish to take issue with the National Landlords alliance, I say bring it on. Do it now.

Moving on Banking facilities are in place. I am prepared to act as CEO without salary initially to get the organisation up and running. The organisation will operate out of offices supplied by me on a rent free basis, until profitability can be achieved.

I have a PR/Secretary lined up who will join us subject to salary discussions. She has experience in the industry as well as a journalism degree and lobbying experience.

Following extensive negotiations over several weeks I have got agreement from the former National Chair of the FSB to also join us. Mr Allan has extensive lobbying experience including vast experience gained from negotiating with the former PM Cameron and Osborne, as well as dealing with the devolved Governments of Scotland ,Wales and NI. This would complete the team initially.

I also have organised a preferred solicitor to assist members. The individual I have in mind is a former local authority prosecutor.

We will not be selling courses or cheap smoke detectors. We will absolutely never assist councils implementing any scheme to the detriment of landlords. As regards document downloads, they are available from other sources.

We will be 100% focused on aggressively fighting the Landlords corner.

The fee to join would be £100 pa.

At this stage all I seek is pledges.

If the figures are right we are good to go. A word of caution however, and I don’t mean to insult regular contributors, but at this stage our biggest enemy is Apathy.

If we can get the pledges ie a min of 1000 members we have a new organisation.

The NATIONAL LANDLORDS ALLIANCE LTD.

Thank you very much Michael. Excellent points. Once Website is sorted we will definately do this. It will come together and we will always listen to constructive comments from members. In the meantime we need more pledges. We have approx 160 out of 20k "reads"

I was thinking that a press release might get publicity and more pledges.

Larry, I've read this page 8 times but can only pledge once so yes, we need many, many more pledges but don't think only 160 out of 20k reads as many will be multiple logins. - Can we freely share this on social media (Facebook, twitter etc.) n try n get more support ... I guess what I should ask is, is there anything you DONT want to us let out of the bag?

We also need to be very careful what we say in respect to slander n libel etc. So perhaps one of your current team can prepare something we can ALL repost ?

Great work!

I have shared this to local landlords Facebook groups and attended a landlords meeting on 25th Sept where I promoted this initiative. While I give this 100% support, not one of the landlords I have shared this with has commented on here. I fought SL in Gainsborough virtually on my own and was not prepared to take the financial hit of losing judicial review even though I had a solid case, and ultimately gave in. Apathy is your worst enemy, please keep going and get some more publicity. Decent landlords need a voice.

Reply to Jo Chapman. That is exactly the problem Jo. Like you I fought SL in Liverpool alone. I exposed their illegality with respect to the dereg act , went to the ICO and forced them to rewrite their application then took then to the first tier tribunal. We are motivated ,I mean all here who pledge but what is wrong with the wider landlord community.

It took Sky News, seen by millions every day, 2 weeks to get 10,000 signatures on their petition for leader debates. These are only no commitment signatures. From experience I think the support level in such a short time has been fantastic 🙂 There could be many friends, family and colleagues waiting in the wings that just don't comment. Many people just read and quietly support (nothing wrong with that as we are all different).

That reminded me to check out the House Price Clown's petition which has been running for six months now;

Petition
Remove the tax relief enjoyed by landlords investing in Buy-to-Let property.
Currently landlords in the UK can claim tax relief on their interest payments. Ordinary homeowners are not able to do this. Tenants are not able to claim tax relief on their rent.
This is grossly unfair
