Landlords Alliance progress report

I agreed with Larry from the outset. We have nothing to lose, not even £100 as once that is given, it's offset in your tax return - more than your mortgage payment is!
Larry may not tick all the boxes and his approach may be a little unconventional but ...what are you doing about it? ... no, I thought as much, so come on give him a little help and if he (we) doesn't achieve everything then at least YOU did something!

UNFIT - Fitness For Human Habitation Act 2018

As an aside, I noticed the very first section of this amendment states:
(1)The Landlord and Tenant Act 1985 is amended in accordance with subsections (2) to (5).

So if it's just (2) to (5), where does subsection (6) stand in all this? ...

(6)In section 302 of the Housing Act 1985 (management and repair of houses acquired under section 300 or retained under section 301), in paragraph (c)—
(a)for “section 8” substitute “sections 8 and 9A”, and
(b)for “does” substitute “do”.

Without wishing to appear pedantic or foolish then it seems to me that IF this is an error in print and subsequent proof reading prior to publication, then it is of an oversight of such a magnitude to be beyond belief. I'm not sure if there are any legal implications etc. but IF this is indeed an error (and not simply my misunderstanding/misreading) then how on Earth are we mere LLs expected to understand such documents that 'experts' cannot even write correctly?

Perhaps Giles could explain it more clearly? I am happy to be corrected (and enlightened).... Read More

B&Q Responds!

I got a very similar response, won’t waste time n space posting but I immediately sent them a reply saying they are wrong in believing shelter support landlords. I also pointed out that landlords are responsible for upkeep n DIY and the pitfalls of tenants undertaking such tasks (generally). I also included an invite to take a look at evidence on this site n see the damage Shelter are causing to the only people who ACTUALLY provide a roof over people’s heads ... landlords! The Alliance is Launched

Joined, paid n got the receipt. I was looking at figures n was appalled to see that with a readership of some 200,000 using this site (I read that somewhere), ONLY 19000 people signed an e-petition started in May and ending in a few days time. No wonder Larry is struggling to get £100 if we can't be bothered to sign a free petition to reintroduce Mortgage interest relief and repeal the 3% Stamp duty surcharge.
