Just to add my tuppence worth,. Yes Larry, IF it’s a serious organisation you are proposing that challenges the multiple 🤥s and BS that the H8Rs repeatedly spout, u have my support. However I would like to think that the alliance u are proposing will be an intelligent one, that will challenge the H8Rs bs with simple logic & facts rather than just using the same tactics they repeatedly use ie hyperbole, propoganda and anecdotal ‘evidence’ as well as irrationally or inadvertently bigging up ‘incorporated’ LLs as they always seem to do for no apparent reason?

You have probably thought of this already, but what I think we need asap is a press release sent to all major news outlets. What they pick up on is conflict, not the "aren't we nice" / "we are misunderstood" type of thing that NLA/RLA do.
Something like:
"LANDLORDS FIGHT BACK
Fed up with the unwillingness or inability of established organisations such as NLA and RLA to stand up against anti-landlord propaganda from organisations such as Shelter and politicians seeking a populist sound bite, landlords across the country are uniting to form an organisation with the remit of aggressively countering uninformed, and ultimately harmful to tenants, anti-landlord rhetoric.
This organisation will not capitulate to Shelter, etc., over issues such as why landlords do not want to take on benefits recipients in the way that mainstream organisations have recently done."
Then go on to give the arguments about
- selective licencing schemes with unlawful conditions (note NOT illegal)
- Universal Credit
- Anti-landlord brigade having attacked LLs for taking housing benefit are now attacking them for not taking HB.
- No DSS helps prospective tenants by avoiding agent fees when they ave no chance of getting the property
- Shelter are demonising all LLs when their stated aim is to help tenants, so should be working with and encouraging good landlords and tackling the real issues which are the Governments lack of provision of social housing and lack of funding to tackle criminal landlords.
