Update: Please now email your pledges to Info@landlordsalliance.co.uk

For the past 18 months, I have mulled over the idea of setting up a new National Landlords association. I won’t bore readers to death explaining why. We all know how frustrated and sickened the community is with the other main associations failing to aggressively fight our corner and instead assist the councils implementing their rotten Selective licensing schemes. Enough is enough.

We could talk forever, but it is now time for action. I have held off taking this leap in the hope that somebody else would take up the baton. I completely understand the reluctance of anybody to get involved. Mark summed it up. A most time consuming venture.

As things stand now, the show is almost ready for the road.

I have set up the National Landlords Alliance. Before I go any further if the National Landlords Association wish to take issue with the National Landlords alliance, I say bring it on. Do it now.

Moving on Banking facilities are in place. I am prepared to act as CEO without salary initially to get the organisation up and running. The organisation will operate out of offices supplied by me on a rent free basis, until profitability can be achieved.

I have a PR/Secretary lined up who will join us subject to salary discussions. She has experience in the industry as well as a journalism degree and lobbying experience.

Following extensive negotiations over several weeks I have got agreement from the former National Chair of the FSB to also join us. Mr Allan has extensive lobbying experience including vast experience gained from negotiating with the former PM Cameron and Osborne, as well as dealing with the devolved Governments of Scotland ,Wales and NI. This would complete the team initially.

I also have organised a preferred solicitor to assist members. The individual I have in mind is a former local authority prosecutor.

We will not be selling courses or cheap smoke detectors. We will absolutely never assist councils implementing any scheme to the detriment of landlords. As regards document downloads, they are available from other sources.

We will be 100% focused on aggressively fighting the Landlords corner.

The fee to join would be £100 pa.

At this stage all I seek is pledges.

If the figures are right we are good to go. A word of caution however, and I don’t mean to insult regular contributors, but at this stage our biggest enemy is Apathy.

If we can get the pledges ie a min of 1000 members we have a new organisation.

The NATIONAL LANDLORDS ALLIANCE LTD.

Update: Please now email your pledges to Info@landlordsalliance.co.uk

With everyone on board we will hopefully move rapidly to collating the membership required with everyone’s help

Hi Dennis.
We can email privately now
Our email is on the article. As regards the enemy not taking us seriously. You are absolutely correct hence the desperate need for new direction which is what we are doing with the formation of the Alliance. The enemy attacks daily with negative press coverage, taxation and pointless regulation. On top of that we have shelter and so called representative bodies who could not punch their way out of a paper bag. I have had private conversations with Neil of P118. I wont go in to detail yet as certain issues are still in train but let me promise you this. Starting with Shelter ,they will take us very seriously indeed. Tactics to be revealed on the members section of our website. The IT people tell me this will take another 3 weeks.

Let’s get some posters and brochures printed and ask volunteers to canvass at their local joint council - NLA meetings?

I am happy to attend all my local meetings to try to canvass for new pledges / members for our association. Does the RLA have regular local meetings as well where volunteers could do the same? We need to contact landlords wherever we might find them!

Thanks Chris. Reply to the comment by CPM ,one can go on tbe NLA website and see where they are having their meetings. We can cover their liverpool meetings but if landlords in other areas could hand out flyers that would be great. Hold off for now until our website is up and running. I have had approx 80 emails pledging so please those who have commented here go on to info@landlordsalliance.co.uk that way we have your contact details. We are doing very well.

Hi, I'll join the Landlords Alliance. "All it takes for evil to succeed is for good men to do nothing!" Section 24 is an immoral tax that has been applied retroactively and the Government should be ashamed of themselves. I contributed to the Judicial review and was wondering if there is any cash left over that could be transferred to this new landlord Alliance?

Please count me in. I am a member of NLA. It does a good job at disseminating information, landlord training, and I accept that it has access to senior civil servants and occasionally ministers to work for us behind the scenes; but Shelter seems to have convinced this government that it is a bone fide housing charity and the government is increasingly taking its line. So there is a pressing need for a more vocal high profile organisation to make our case. We work our socks off and put our personal wealth at risk to provide homes for about 20% of all households in the country and we are persecuted rather than thanked. Of course there are some "rogue" landlords, just as there are "rogue" ministers, "rogue" MPs, "rogue"civil servants (lots of them if my experience is typical), "rogue" local councillors, etc , etc.
