General Election 8th June – Who on earth do landlords vote for?

We are asking all landlords to complete this Poll.

Oops! We could not locate your form.

We are also extremely interested in your views so please post comments.

For example, you may well despise what the Conservative Government has done and you may well mistrust them but will any other party be better?

If landlords vote for minor parties might this hand a win to Labour?

Do you think a coalition Government is likely, and if so between which parties?

Which party would you least prefer to be elected and why?

Could not voting hand this election to Labour?

Hi Jamie. I think a comment I made has gone astray. I wanted to thank you for your superb efforts with UKIP and point out how we unfortunately can’t make people keep their promises and behave honourably. A lot of landlords were ready to vote UKIP. There is now certainly no reason to vote for them on the basis that they will be good for landlords. They have failed to offer us anything and can get stuffed, basically.

Who’s wealthy? The point of s24 is that it *prefers* wealthy landlords with no mortgages. I’m a standard rate tax payer (currently) with no other income to speak (apart from interest on my 123 account and 300 a month council pension). How does that make me a “wealthy landlord”? I’ll be %^*&( poor if s24 dumps me into the 40% band.

Kathy it’s not just unencumbered LLs who will benefit as a result of S24. It’s mainly the corporate “big boy” LLs whom I still believe S24 was at least partially designed for, as under Tories they are conveniently excluded from any fiscal punishment. In the unlikely event that Corbyn wins, at least he may try to ‘level the playing field’ between ALL resi LLs, which I think would be logical.

The bastards are incongurous idiots at the best of times and people like us expect and see the best in people and life and hope we will be treated as we treat others. No chance with the political class. Bring back Nigel.

    For those complaining about UKIP.

    Seriously?

Your going to blame a party with 1 MP, that has defected back to the Tories?

They don’t have a policy on Section 24 and BTL because, just like every other MP, they don’t understand it, or its dire consequences.

BTL as a business model is now about to be pronounced DEAD!
    (Fergus Wilson)

    The other parties want
    5 year tenancies
Rents rises no higher than CPI index
    Rent controls
Certain age groups to get no more than Shared Accommodation Rate in housing benefits.
    The Legalization of cannabis.

If you are a private individual landlord, your choice is stark….
    (a, incorporate or go bust.
    (b, sell up.
    (c. Wither on the vine

As an alternative you could go into Serviced Accommodation
    Invest in another country
    Convert commercial into residential
Sell toys and fly screens on Amazon.

Unless you revive the corpse of Maggie Thatcher and Sir Kieth Joseph there is no Tory party left.

I actually think this country deserves a few years of Corbyn, Unions and Mass Unemployment so that another 40 years after the next 5, the younger generations learn what a bankrupted economy does for your prospects.

Don’t worry about Brexit folks, you should worry about interest rates if Labour get in, as the money markets desert the U.K. Basket case economy, as we borrow ourselves to death.

I would have voted Tory, but I refuse to back a party that introduced Section 24.

UKIP is not perfect, there were some anti landlord stuff in the new manifesto. But at least they are willing to criticize housing associations which is more than any of the other parties. Would have been nice if they highlighed these associations do not pay any tax and people wonder why can be cheaper. Plus a nephew of mine says Suzanne Evans is on facebook and replies to people so if anyone wanted to give a run down of the injustices of being a LL in the UK, may be worth messaging her?.

Stopped reading once I realised it was bollocks. They selectively cherry pick facts to fit a theory, mixing up cause and effect.

Incidentally, Denmark consistently comes off the worst of the Scandinavian countries in the book. I think you’re confusing it with Sweden as the darling of the Left.

    Pam,
I’ve said it before, and I really don’t understand ( can anyone help with this ? ) why all the parties, other than the Tories who are inevitably and unfortunately going to win – don’t put PROPORTIONAL REPRESENTATION in their manifesto’s, so at least the electorate will have a proportioned stake in what goes on in parliament to hold the winning party to ‘effective’ account.
