General Election 8th June – Who on earth do landlords vote for?

We are asking all landlords to complete this Poll.

Oops! We could not locate your form.

We are also extremely interested in your views so please post comments.

For example, you may well despise what the Conservative Government has done and you may well mistrust them but will any other party be better?

If landlords vote for minor parties might this hand a win to Labour?

Do you think a coalition Government is likely, and if so between which parties?

Which party would you least prefer to be elected and why?

Could not voting hand this election to Labour?

Totally agree Lindsey. I was not referring to people who have to leave to remain solvent. I have total sympathy with all those adversely affected by retroactive legislation such as S24 (and many other pieces of recent legislation.)

“Atlas Shrugged” is perhaps the biggest load of self-justifying piffle I’ve ever had the misfortune to read.

So you've not actually read "The Spirit Level" after all?

I know this news is about a week out of date, but I was told yesterday that Katie Hopkins had been sacked by LBC,the talk radio station.

So as I'm a bit of a put my foot in my mouth sort of chap, I was curious as to why?

I like LBC radio because it has some right wingers on it and some no holds barred left wingers as well, balanced by the public voicing their thoughts and getting an entertaining verbal bashing by the LBC hosts if they don't agree with you.

But I notice that left wingers are so intolerant to an opposing viewpoint that they get nasty instead of debating a point ask for that voice or viewpoint to be silenced, (Katie Hopkins)

It turns out that she tweeted something about us requiring a 'Final Solution' to radicle Islamic extremists.

She has since said that she had mis tweeted, (AKA dropped a bollock)!
What she should have tweeted was a "Final clampdown"

What it points out, is that unless what you say or tweet matches the "narrative" of what people "think" is politically correct, you are no longer allowed to even think or talk differently anymore.

If you don't want to be in the EU, is a good example.
Here's the current narrative.

"You were wrong, you were lied to, your a racist, you don't even eat British Fish, you will be worse off, you won't get a good deal, you will lose 46% of your export market", UKIP is finished, Grammar schools are evil, the NHS is in crisis, Teachers are demoralized" and the list goes on......

So that means that if you are a BTL landlord, there isn't a politician that will even dare to back our case against Section 24, because it doesn't fit the "narrative" of the media.

So if you don't have the guts of Donald Trump, Nigel Farage, Marine Le Pen etc, to stand out and say anything controversial you are condemned to a lifetime of media manipulation.

As this is an election, you will note that if you don't agree in a big booming voice that the country no longer has benefit cheats, lazy feckless people don't exist anymore, Tories are subjecting "Austerity" on purpose, every nurse uses a food bank and Donald Trump has funny hair and gropes women , you are wrong, evil and ought to be ashamed of your ethics and motives.

NO YOU DON'T !

Don't be ashamed of being different, as a BTL landlord you are doing something of value, but you may not get thanked for it.

Vote for people with conviction and common sense practical ideas, that won't bankrupt the country.

# Vote UKIP

I'm sorry Gary, I think there's a massive difference between voicing an unpopular opinion and advocating a Nazi strategy on how to deal with one whole section of society. Flip it. Ask yourself what you'd think if a Muslim said it? There'd be a public outcry and probably an arrest for inciting racial hatred. I think she got off lightly just losing her job.

Katie Hopkins did not drop a bollock. She knew exactly what she was doing. The woman was sued last year for one of her ridiculous tweets and lost, was forced to pay compensation and court costs. You don't make mistakes on Twitter after that. You know exactly what you're doing.

If her advocating the 'final solution' is your idea of her voicing the opinion of the majority of people who are too scared to speak out for themselves then God help us all. Good riddance to her. Vile hateful woman.

That's how semantics works Gary, you join words together in different combinations and they create meaning. The meaning is decided by the majority for as long as the majority decide what that meaning is, that's not a monopoly, that's shared cultural experience. The phrase 'Final Solution' to many generations to come with mean only one thing, it's not a eternal monopoly, it's the collective application of meaning to a phrase for as long as society, either consciously or unconsciously, decide it will. In the same way that the 'N' word will forever be associated with the oppression of one group in society.

She knew what meaning everybody in society would take from that phrase, she knew exactly what she was doing. She was, as my dear old Mum would have put it 'being too clever for her own good'. I hope the CPS decides to prosecute, comments like those are exactly what the terrorists want and just hinder the progress to a solution. We live in a multi-cultural society, get used to it. Dividing those communities is not the way to go.

I see my comment was deleted. I don't think you've really given my comment enough thought if I'm honest, Neil.

What I think happened was you saw the word 'Nazi', panicked and deleted the comment in the exact same over-sensitive, media-cleansing way that Gary was pointing out. I didn't realise P118 was so blindly risk averse. If we don't mention a certain point in history, we can pretend it -and anything to do with it- didn't happen, right?

I was merely pointing out that the simple word: solution and the equally simple word: final, are not owned by anyone, or any political party...what on earth is wrong with that?

In direct response to your last comment, Pamela -we live in a forced multicultural society as far as I'm concerned. It clearly doesn't work that well...not outside of the perfect playground that is London, anyway. It's like affordable housing in an expensive estate.

(i.e. those buying the big, pricey, 5-bed houses don't want to have a block of bedsits in the same close, because they want to live their lives in different ways and don't want to be near each other -what's so wrong about wanting to be surrounded by people similar, in whatever way, to yourself?)

You might feel it's 'forced' but I like it. I lived in multi-cultural London and I've lived in a snooty predominantly white, middle class and fiercely racist village in Berkshire.

Give me multi-cultural London every time. It's lively, it's interesting and the people are great, tolerant, open, kind, interested and interesting. Multiculturalism is happening, it's the future of Britain. I think it's great.

Hi Neil

Apologies for misusing the site. It's an emotional subject but, you're right this isn't the right place for it to be played out.

I'll say no more.
