Action not words needed from landlords

Hello, So it has come to pass!  I have finally decided we must collectively and actively respond to the bludgeoning government policy against landlords where it hurts most – their voter base.

I will be starting a Change.org campaign which, if it reaches 10,000 signatures, will be debated in Parliament. This should be easy to reach as there over 400,000 PRS landlords who have not been represented well by many of our landlord associations.

We must speak up for ourselves!

It is because the pendulum of voices are weighted high for tenants that landlords voices are drowned out.

So, by having a call to arms, so to speak, and getting all landlords to spread the word about the petition – to repeal section 24 immediately – we can begin to reclaim our purpose back to provide a housing sector fit for both tenants and housing providers, as opposed to the insanity prevailing with a tenant’s blindsided view of the real world.

Keep an eye out for further details.

Paul

Yes I agree. They have been picking on landlords for years now treating us like we been doing some kind of criminal behaviour. When all we done is bought property then allowed someone to have a roof over their heads. Now we are paying the price for doing this. Enough is enough. They need to find someone else to pick on

Does it not occur to you that if the Government attacks the private landlord then as a consequence the bruises are manifest upon the tenants?
The tenants will bleed more than the landlords.
Why not ask to tenants to support this initiative?
This would greatly increase the firepower?
They are not all North London Socalists?

The only real clout we have is if, as I suggested many months ago, ALL of us issue s21 and or s8 Notices and ALL have the same expiry date.
Local authorities would then need to rehouse 4,700,000 families/units on one day.
LA’s and government might then appreciate and take note of what PRS landlords do for this country

I quite agree.

I'm loving this attack on landlords, I love seeing my letting business of 30 plus years wrecked by draconian regulation and taxation, I love seeing any thought of a sensible capital gain destroyed by over taxation, but most of all I regret seeing the homelessness which is a consequence of the government listening to tenant lobbying charities.

A combined campaign will have some impact and I will join anything that is out there.
Issuing s21 and s8 notices all at the same time will bring the situation to a head absolutely. But most of us landlords have good relationships with our tenants and want to help them rather than chuck them out... Getting that message over to the woke tenants rights brigade is the best but hardest method for sensible discussion.... Not going to happen though is it. 😒

Good luck explaining it to the tenants and getting them motivated enough to do something about it

Completely agree.
No one seems to ever mention what will happen to all those people that rent.
They are not wanting to or able to buy a house.
Renting suits many.
Most of my tenants have been with me over 15 years and have 5 year tenancies.
No one stands up for them.
Shelter have a great deal to answer for.

I read about more Social housing but their rents are as high. They don’t look after their stock properly.
They get their stock from new builds which pushes up the prices.

With all these people coming over the Channel it’s just going to increase demand for rentals yet the government are still bashing Landlords.

No it won't, parliament would go into meltdown if it had to do that.

10,000 signatures just gets a government response. At 100,000 it might get considered for debate.

I fully agree with you. If we can gather support for this, I feel certain it is one of the best ways to strike back as, going on strike is not a feasible option.
