General Election 8th June – Who on earth do landlords vote for?

We are asking all landlords to complete this Poll.

Oops! We could not locate your form.

We are also extremely interested in your views so please post comments.

For example, you may well despise what the Conservative Government has done and you may well mistrust them but will any other party be better?

If landlords vote for minor parties might this hand a win to Labour?

Do you think a coalition Government is likely, and if so between which parties?

Which party would you least prefer to be elected and why?

Could not voting hand this election to Labour?

Hi Ros,

UKIP may not have clarified their position on Landlords but the Tories have.

UKIP want to ban covering of woman's faces for religious doctrine.
(That will get the UK liberals frothing at the mouth).

Incidentally, I visited my properties in West Yorkshire last week, it's a shock to see so many woman not allowed to show their faces, by their own religion, outside of their home.

I'm told it's their choice, I can guarantee it's peer pressure, doctrine and male chauvinism written into religious text.

They want integration of other nationalities into our own.
They want a Grammar and or technical school in every town.
They want to stop HS2.
They want a Depleted Uranium type of Brexit.
They want less regulation in all markets.
They want life to mean life for prisoners.
They want Sharia courts banned.

Their last manifesto said....

Economy
Raise the personal tax allowance to at least £13,000, taking those on minimum wage out of tax altogether
Raise the threshold for paying 40% tax to £55,000 and introduce a new 30% intermediate rate on earnings between £45,300 and £55,000
Abolish inheritance tax
Increase the transferable tax allowance for married couples to £1,500
Ensure big corporations pay their fair share of tax
Remove VAT from listed building repairs and sanitary products.

Leave the EU and take back control of our borders
End immigration for unskilled jobs for a five-year period to re-balance our work economy
Introduce an Australian-style points-based immigration system to assess all potential migrants to Britain on a fair, ethical and equal basis
Tackle the problem of sham marriages
Introduce a new visa system for workers, visitors, students, families and asylum seekers
End access to benefits and free NHS treatment for new immigrants until they have paid tax and NI for five years
Require all visitors and new immigrants to the UK to have their own health insurance.

Housing
Bring empty homes back into use
Build one million homes on brownfield sites by 2020
Prioritise social housing for those with local connections to an area
Give local people the final say on major planning developments in their area
Restrict the ‘Right-to-Buy’ and ‘Help-to-Buy’ schemes to British nationals
Oppose the so-called ‘Mansion Tax.’

Small business

Cut the massive burden of EU red tape
Prevent big businesses deliberately delaying payments to smaller companies
Cut Business Rates by 20% for companies having premises with a total Rateable Value of less than £50,000
Support a credit insurance scheme to improve the financial security of small businesses
Make it easier for small and medium-size businesses to tender for public service contracts
Push for 30 minutes free parking in every high street and shopping parade.

Their next manifesto isn't published yet, personally I like immigration it fills my HMO's.

They are pretty much Tory with a sten gun, types, but they also recognise an opposing viewpoint without calling them names.

They also pose politicians some very awkward questions.

But they mean well.

No, I don't agree they have to find the money to prop up the ' endless Benefit culture ' Do something about that and the Musheroom'ing Disability and mobility claims.
Whilst Health is generally improving, Disability claims are ever increasing, - because people out of work in generations of Unemployment benefit, have cottoned on that it's another lucrative allowance they can claim.
And its Tax-payers like us that are funding it.
Also to fund it, the Gov't will look to easy targets for Finance - that's us again.
I think the answer is to change the negative perception of Private landlords as Pariahs - how we do that is another question.

Nationwide licensing for landlords for £300 per landlord or £60 per property.
You get a disc to stick in your front window.
Property has to pass a three yearly mot on its electrics and gas.

Lose your license, you have to sell up or pass management to letting agents.

Run by the LPLA, (Landlords and Property Licensing Authority)

Absolutely NOT,
The Housing and Planning Act guidance from DCLG on implementing Civil Penalties and Banning orders, ( published 6/4/17 ) both state in their opening paragraph, ;
" The quality of the PRS has improved rapidly over the past decade with 82 % of private renters satisfied with their accommodation, and staying in their homes for an average of 4 years.
" The Government wants to support good landlords who provide decent well maintained homes, and avoid unnecessary regulation which increases costs and red tape for landlords and pushes up rents for tenants. "
The H&P Act focuses on Rogue landlords, which we all should support and in my view ( supported by DCLG above ) Selective Licensing is 'Old Hat' and H&P Act [ Civil Penalties, Rent Repayment Orders and Rogue landlords database - which yu have to have 2 convictions in 12 months before being added, is the " Emperors new clothes "

Noooooooooo, my friend, take Licensing away from councils and make it national.

Then we are all on an even playing field and it becomes very political.

Then you will see who supports tenants and landlords.

DCLG acknowledge that 82 % of Private rented property Doesn't have a problem or need to take any action - like paying for bureaucracy to regulate the minority.
H&P Act focuses on Identifying the minority and dealing with them, WITHOUT cost to the majority of Law-abiding and compliant landlords.
Its also pointed out by eminent commentators that the bulk of the work involved is with compliant landlords, leaving little time / resources for ones that evade the scheme ( where more time / resources are actually needed ) ... and by the way, Civil Penalties pay for the Local Authorities time to do this - Not the law-abiding landlords.

Its possible Mark but I doubt it very much as the people that voted lib dem in 2010 won't forgive them that quickly over the tuition fees issue. Plus anecdotal it may be but I have friends in former lib dem seats who have said there seems little appetite to vote lib dem again. Remember council seats are different than general elections.

With the EU issue remember outside London it was more or a less a landslide for leave so that realistically leave them with just London generally and given their policies such as 'mansion tax' if promoted again which undermine london to.

My view for whats its worth the worst thing is huge tory majority..
