Can anyone recommend smoke and CO alarm installation forms?

Hi, I have fitted new smoke and CO alarms to replace the ones already installed, as it is a fresh start with the new regulations regarding fitting.

Although I had the required alarms already fitted, I decided total replacements were the way to go.

But, I can’t seem to find a decent landlord’s installation form for the tenants to sign as to the fitting and location of the new alarms.

I would appreciate anyone pointing me in the direction of a form I could use.

Thanks,

Leslie

The installer should provide a certificate confirming correctly installed as per BS 5836-6, Grade and Classification including details on type of alarms installed and "replace by" date. There is no requirement for a tenant to sign such form, with regular testing being part of the Lease contract.

Thanks for the comment the problem is that the alarms were installed by myself therefore I need to create the paperwork to confirm compliance or find some already done.

Besides the advice already given, maybe carry out an interim inspection & send the report to the tenants that confirms the smoke & CO2 alarms (where they are & yes/no to having been tested as working)

Hi Les - I appreciate and understand your issue, this is the challenge when undertaking legal compliance work when if a landlord not your field of expertise. Trusting you have fully complied with the specification and installation guidelines and thus competent to sign off as correct, in which case there is an appropriate form in the British Standards. Or seek certification from a local approved fire alarm installer to sign off as an independent inspector.

While gas certification can only be done by a Gas Safe registered engineer. All forms of electrical certificates can be issued by anyone who knows what they are doing (a "skilled" person).

The niceic Green coloured forms are, as their website says "Green - Available to All"

https://www.shop.niceic.com/certificates/e-certs/fire-safety

https://www.kewtechcorp.com/products/fircert/
https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2380057.m570.l1313&_nkw=fire+alarm+certificate&_sacat=0

There are other suppliers of blank certs

Thanks, everyone for your helpful comments. I will use the information and ask the tenants to sign to say they have had new fire alarms and carbon monoxide alarms fitted date and position of fixing points and remind them that they are responsible to check these alarms, change the batteries when required, and notify me of any faulty alarms.
