This time last week we unveiled a fresh Property118 website design and new functionality to improve Navigation, searching and the general user experience.
One of the new features we have added is a ‘hover-over’ function which appears when your mouse cursor is placed over a members name or Avatar. The date of when the member joined Property118 and how many comments they have posted to date is then displayed. We think this will be particularly useful to established members who like to report inappropriate comments. Sadly, some people join forums and post antagonistic comments to wind people up. For some reason they get a kick out of it! Where such comments are reported a view is then taken by moderators on whether to remove the offending comment, and in extreme cases to expel the member and block their IP address so that they are unable to create a membership profile using an different name and email account.
Inevitably there were a few initial ‘bug-fixes’ to deal with when we first launched the new website and we are extremely grateful to members who took the time and effort to point these out to us. Hopefully, these have now all been resolved. We hope you will agree that the text font is now much easier to read for example, and to make bigger for those with less than 20:20 vision. Other fixes were to ensure that comment links pointed directly to the associated comment as opposed to the article and that login issues were resolved. We are still working on some image cropping issues.
There may still be things you spot which are slightly annoying or could be improved upon further, hence we would very much like you to tell us what these are.

Daily Newsletters were paused whilst we were ‘bug-fixing’ but will now resume for those who were previously receiving them and for all new members.

Yes, mine too.
That’s why we are busy working on an App which will be very similar to Facebook in terms of notifications. Our hope is that this will eventually replace comment notifications and Newsletters via email completely in the fullness of time.

It seems all over the place, disorganised and it’s tiresome.
The scrolling up and down on an iPad screen makes me feel zzzzzzzz, .
It’s not as good as before, sorry Mark, but I’m not a fan of it at all.

Ah Gary I think I get it. You just click the home page button which is always the P118 Logo top left, which takes you back to select whatever you want next.

So how do you know when somebody responds?
I suppose if you don’t reply to this message you haven’t seen it because you are unaware if it as a result of not receiving a blocked notification email.

Looks a bit kiddy at the moment. ie. big words, wide page etc.
Lot of scrolling like someone said.
Old site could see what was what at top & scroll quickly to our last comment or persons relevant comment.
Old site looked more to the point for intellectual people. This one looks like for the forum guys who’s got all day.
BUT early days.
As u know, people don’t like change.
People/Us, may end up liking it.
But some clever people ie. me ha ha, can sometimes be very good judge of situations. changes, people, scenario’s, what if’s etc., And first few days, not great.
But on the other side, if u have people with less than 20/20 vision like u say, I don’t know the statistics, but if they are let’s say more than 20%, should we be ignoring them? Obviously not.
I’m commenting from Big PC User, 3 monitors in office, 27 inch monitor, which may make your text seem bigger.
I only use your site from mobile phone when on holiday.
But good on u to experiment with the changes, & as important to ask for feedback, which a lot of monkey website designer changes don’t. And we all know how awful some are ’cause they just don’t listen.
