I have signed myself, as a londlord. The more signatures the better. (actually there is a separate thread on that here).
However I seem to remember that someone somewhere here mentioned that we need the big press titles behind that – Daily Mail, Express etc. So far I have not heard these titles are even aware what is happening.
Do you remember the Agent Fee abolishing – it was widely advertised that a petition substantially contributed to that (to say the least). So maybe such petition has its value, however the crucial point is to get the TENANTS to sign.

I agree it can get a bit weary but hey NW stick with it. Every little helps

If nobody took action then nothing would change
If everyone took action then everything would change

Politicians rely on the inertia of the individual to push their stuff through
We collectively rely on rallying the troops to combat that inertia to bring about change

People power is extraordinary especially these days in the world of social media
History is littered with examples of dramatic changes in policy brought about by people power

When all the landlords are gone, when all the Council stock is sold, when all the shop doorways are occupied, when children die on the streets this &()%^$*&^ government will still blame ex landlords for the housing crisis.

I have never seen an organisation take so many unnecessary actions against the only sector trying to alleviate the situation.

The Homelessness Reduction Bill will require councils to support more homeless people, such as single people and those likely to become homeless within 56 days. The proposals have cross-party support and government backing.

Thus the number of people that councils will have to house is going to increase through one piece of legislation while the amount of accommodation for them is being reduced by another – Section 24.  You couldn’t make it up.

Hello David, not been on this forum in a while want to ask do you know landlords who’ve been affected by the reduction in mortgage interest relief ? I know several landlords who’ve been under the radar for years i mean never declared their b2let properties so theyll keep going whereas the honest landlord is facing collapse or an expensive restructuring (if they can get like for like funding) hope you dont mind if my question has been covered many times already guess im looking for a snapshot of the market

Most of the landlords I know will be affected, some severely affected, to the point of bankruptcy. I do not know any “under the radar” landlords and would not associate with them if I found out.

I suspect a few people I know don’t declare their rental income on top of their main income.

I’m absolutely sure that a percentage of LLs in general do that. Without a doubt. Wonder what percentage that is?
