Morning all I have a story that will make your blood boil I am going to leave names out at this stage

I rented one of my houses out to a lovely family of Egyptian asylum seekers who fled there country because he was gettin threatened with death. It was his wife and 5 kids one of which was studying law.

They came over with about 30k saved up and used that for living. They paid me rent up to date on time untill they ran out in October. I decided to help them by giving then some breathing space whilst they sorted themselves out. They went to the home office and where given three options go to a centre for asylum seekers untill they where processed,go into temp accommodation or they could stay where they are untill July when the daughter graduated from College and the home office would cover the rent and any arrears. Two days before they where due to receive this rent cheque the home office rang them up and took option 3 off the table they would not be paying rent to private landlords was the line. They said they where going to send someone down to see them. This is the bit which will make your blood boil they offered them an asylum centre and and told they would have to leave the bulk of there stuff behind or he proceeded to advise them was to sit tight as it would be too difficult and time consuming for me to evict them through the courts and by this time the home office may have more suitable accommodation basically have me off for months and months of rent whilst letting me do the job they can't I cannot believe the home office would offer such discusting advice to people from anywhere let alone people looking to set up living here it's no wonder we have a culture of laziness etc if this is what is going on. Fair play to the family they where shocked and said that we had been really good to them and they would Pay back every penny they owed. Once they are settled I am going to take this further and go to press as this shows you just how little landlords are thought of by this government discusting doesn't cover it .

Local Authorities have been giving this type of advice to tenants for years.
Tbh, it doesn't really surprise me.
More or less everyone regards us as rich parasites.
I honestly don't think we'll change that perception any time soon.

Rare support for private Landlords. “I still find it strange that Britain’s best and most effective form of housing provision, the private rented sector, is coming under such consistent attack.” – the author states…

Might be working for the FTB but spare a thought for the displaced tenants - where will they live ? Just because the landlord is motivated to sell doesn't suddenly change the incumbent tenant's financial position or indeed desire to buy. My MP had no answer for where the tenants will go. We're selling somewhere with an excellent tenant who will have to go. Initially he was interested in considering buying but we haven't heard since. Such a shame as he has really looked after the place and made it his home. The MPs won't care as he probably wasn't a Tory voter.

With the ending of various Help-to-Buy schemes is it any wonder that there was a last minute surge in activity before the deadline.

I know but the aim was to increase ftb / home ownership at it's happening so the government will be all over this and use it as justification for s24 and will gain massive support from the general public
