Misleading the public as to what they are using their money for?
I am struggling to understand why Shelter has the nerve to start a new (very expensive – as seen on TV) marketing campaign to raise funds for people who may have been made homeless because of Covid-19?
Shelter already receive £15 million in funding from various public bodies, so why are they begging for more money when they don’t even use the money they receive to actually house the homeless?
How Shelter can behave in this way by pandering to the public purse in these extremely difficult times without any transparency as to their existing £15 million income and why this is not enough in order to justify their new Covid-19 campaign?
There has been a clear message to landlords, supported by legislation, by the Government to stave off any tenant repossessions for the next 3 months. Therefore, surely the money they are raising is not for legal costs in contesting landlord repossessions in court, when landlords are prohibited from doing so?
Their advertising gives me the (false) impression they are helping the Covid-19 homeless by rehousing them, even though this is not actually said. Their actions are creating an inference. Are they misleading the public as to what they are using their money for?
Can anyone enlighten me?

I have listened carefully to what is actually said and the monologue is quite clever. The first part says that they are receiving a lot more calls from people worried about their jobs, homes and so on which could actually be true. It doesn’t imply what advice, if any, is being given or that they are trying to rehouse anyone. Then there’s the “case” of a health worker who the landlord is trying to evict “in case she gets the coronavirus” without giving details. Note that getting the words “health worker” and “coronavirus” in focusses the mind on the current situation. Probably a load of bullsh*t and non-specific enough for them to wriggle out of if pressed. Then the appeal for money without really giving any indication as to what they are to do with it. The whole thing probably professionally written and, as I said previously, quite clever. They’re opportunistically (?) using the coronavirus to raise funds. The advert makes me feel sick.

I heard a rumour they were inviting Tenants who were struggling to pay their rent to contact them for a loan from their annual £72 Million, income budget. ?
Can anyone confirm if this is true ?

We will all see a flock of flying pigs before that happens because if they were to ever acquire a scrap of decency and implement such charitable donations to help support the most needy, they would indirectly be helping the private rental sector and there is even less chance of that.

With many announcements likening the Coronavirus to that of the spirit of World War 2 and how the populus reacted. Shelter should be compared to Joseph Goebbels, the propaganda arm of the German Government!

Credit were credit is due. They spend 8 days distributing 26 food parcel some of which they provided themselves, some baby clothes/ provisions ( unknown origin) and a couple mobile phones (unknown origin). At best they splashed out, I reckon, £1,000 tops (or 0.0014% of their annual income). Last of the big spender – NOT!
