Zoopla or RightmoveOK, we know which is the biggest (for now at least), my question is; which do you think is best, Zoopla or Rightmove and why?

This all started with a tweet (embedded below) but then I decided to make this an open discussion and several Estate Agents and Letting Agents have since responded as you will see when you scroll down.

We use both Rightmove and Zoopla, it is obvious that Righmove has the greater market share and so despite the costs involved it makes absolute sense to be on the biggest portal. However we also track other portal sites carefully as the web is not static and websites can lose favour just as quickly as they gain it so it is interesting to see how Zoopla have improved their profile in the last 6 months or so.

I think it is interesting that one of the other posters mentioned looking to find an alternative number to avoid the costs of a premium rate call, and I am sure others are getting wise to this which may mean Rightmove end up using more more aggressive forms of revenue generation, which often turn off the end user, just look at what is happening to Facebook at the moment.

I think there will always be a place for agents with a good track record to keep attracting customers through their own website and social media but as the global market is so fluid we need property portals in order to service the vast number of enquiries that the housing market generates.

I prefer Zoopla user interface nice and sleek lots of added information easy to get to also the past sales data seems more complete

Just for fun I created an Infographic that show Zoopla and RighMove use of Twitter see http://www.megaquicksale.co.uk/blog/twitter-showdown-between-zoopla-and-rightmove-who-winner-infographic

We use both Rightmove and Zoopla. Despite the costs that Rightmove charge we are on them because landlords expect us to be. We generate more leads from our own on-line marketing. Recently Zoopla have forced pretty hefty price increases on us so we may decide to ditch them.

Lead quality is about the same for both.

We use a lot of other property portals just to gain the maximum coverage possible. It's a competitive market - but we're still winning !

I am just wondering how those who responded before on this subject would respond now 12 months on with current Zoopla & Rightmove fees and Agent's Mutual's 'On the Market' influence. Who will you be using next year?

I have a simple question . Is it possible for an owner to place a property on Zoopla/Rightmove themselves and avoid the rather redundant attentions of an Estate Agent.

I did successfully sell a property in France in France using only a Property Website..

Thanks
