New Landlord Association seeking pledges

For the past 18 months, I have mulled over the idea of setting up a new National Landlords association. I won’t bore readers to death explaining why. We all know how frustrated and sickened the community is with the other main associations failing to aggressively fight our corner and instead assist the councils implementing their rotten Selective licensing schemes. Enough is enough.

We could talk forever, but it is now time for action. I have held off taking this leap in the hope that somebody else would take up the baton. I completely understand the reluctance of anybody to get involved. Mark summed it up. A most time consuming venture.

As things stand now, the show is almost ready for the road.

I have set up the National Landlords Alliance. Before I go any further if the National Landlords Association wish to take issue with the National Landlords alliance, I say bring it on. Do it now.

Moving on Banking facilities are in place. I am prepared to act as CEO without salary initially to get the organisation up and running. The organisation will operate out of offices supplied by me on a rent free basis, until profitability can be achieved.

I have a PR/Secretary lined up who will join us subject to salary discussions. She has experience in the industry as well as a journalism degree and lobbying experience.

Following extensive negotiations over several weeks I have got agreement from the former National Chair of the FSB to also join us. Mr Allan has extensive lobbying experience including vast experience gained from negotiating with the former PM Cameron and Osborne, as well as dealing with the devolved Governments of Scotland ,Wales and NI. This would complete the team initially.

I also have organised a preferred solicitor to assist members. The individual I have in mind is a former local authority prosecutor.

We will not be selling courses or cheap smoke detectors. We will absolutely never assist councils implementing any scheme to the detriment of landlords. As regards document downloads, they are available from other sources.

We will be 100% focused on aggressively fighting the Landlords corner.

The fee to join would be £100 pa.

At this stage all I seek is pledges.

If the figures are right we are good to go. A word of caution however, and I don’t mean to insult regular contributors, but at this stage our biggest enemy is Apathy.

If we can get the pledges ie a min of 1000 members we have a new organisation.

The NATIONAL LANDLORDS ALLIANCE LTD.

Larry Sweeney

Update: Please now email your pledges to [email protected]

With everyone on board we will hopefully move rapidly to collating the membership required with everyone’s help

Reply to comment by “Appalled Landlord”. It is astounding. The NLA welcome a Renters union
They now are grossly offensive. Insulting their members with this tosh. Members leave now. Join us and let these idiots assist councils and tenants while purporting to represent us. These organisations cannot possibly lobby for us. Not with that approach. To every landlord who has pledged Thank you. Please network spread the word . Remember 1000 is the figure we need . This is a modest target, but its s start from there we build.

I’m not sure I agree about LLs not wishing to switch from the big 2?
As a member of one of them I am totally disillusioned with my membership.
I have asked questions of their helpline twice and was unable to get an answer to either of my questions.
Courses run by them are to be paid for so no benefit there as the training would be available elsewhere.
Their meetings are a long way away from me and are anyway not even members meetings they are run in conjunction with the local authority and are open to everyone.
I use their ASTs and apart from that I’m not sure what benefit I derive from being a member.

Maybe when the alliance is up and running we could all leave the NLA at the same time and spoil their Christmas!

Our article on the New Landlord organisation has been read over 12000 times since publication a few days ago. I cannot thank enough those who have pledged. I know and appreciate how much you want real representation. However i want to address the others. 12000 times the article has been read. Get on and pledge. Dont sit at home reading and whining about how unfair the PRS has been treated of late. Dont moan about Section 24 and Sdlt. Get up and do something about it. Pledge your support .£100 per pa is nothing if you are serious about your business. Dont leave it to the others who have come on here. Join us. Finally remember this if Comrade Corbyn gets his way there will be no PRS. Surely you are sick of being called a “criminal landlord. We need you on board. Help us get the numbers.

To NW landlord. You can see the pledges here. We are also working in the background through agents etc, so i cannot give a definate figure yet, but once again 12000 “reads” just shows how many we could and should get

The RLA have recently published on their website a document entitled A Collection of Essays. One of these essays is by Polly
Neate, chief executive of Shelter. Casting around for yet another
section of the PRS to vilify, the best she can muster is so called
“Accidental Landlords” . Apparently the tenants of these landlords suffer “Serious consequences” . However, Miss Neate
fails to supply any evidence or detail as to what these serious consequences actually are or how many accidental landlords
this applies to. Like most Shelter anti landlord articles, big on rhetoric, short on detail. I am more than disappointed that the
    RLA has published such drivel.

Thanks Luke, yes it would be great to get this 180. That is exactly what we need to get going.

They’ve been infiltrated and are nothing more than Government stooges.
