General Election 8th June – Who on earth do landlords vote for?

We are asking all landlords to complete this Poll.

Oops! We could not locate your form.

We are also extremely interested in your views so please post comments.

For example, you may well despise what the Conservative Government has done and you may well mistrust them but will any other party be better?

If landlords vote for minor parties might this hand a win to Labour?

Do you think a coalition Government is likely, and if so between which parties?

Which party would you least prefer to be elected and why?

Could not voting hand this election to Labour?

I’m amazed there’s 35% of Landlords, especially on this site, – that haven’t heard of Section 24 !
or else, they’re you know what – voting for Xmas

Can’t envisage any other result than May returning with a much increased majority, much as I dislike the notion. Surely our voting behaviour can’t just be focused on parties’ approaches to buy to let? What about their policies on human rights, immigration, social care, nhs, mental health……?

FWIW I always consider the actual manifestos and try to decide which I think is best for ?? as a whole. This results in me normally opting for Lib Dem, so we’ll see this time.

I prefer not to vote tactically, but without proportional representation, the electorate is encouraged to do so under the current system.

that is some prediction Mark. you’d need balls of steel to put your money on Labour.
    current betting is:

    Conservatives 1/12
    Labour 12/1

so, ignoring the rest of the field, Labour a 1 in 145 chance, Conservatives 144 in 145.

Would now not be the ideal time to pressurise the cons into introducing s24 going foward rather than retrospectively?? Even labour might be interested in that with 4m landlord votes up for grabs! Step forward the landlords union!

S.24 has to be fought by everyone. If not it won’t be long before the relief given gets reduced to 15%, then 10% and then 0% and extended to incorporated Landlords.

You are normally spot on with your assessment of both property and political scenarios. I just hope to you are wrong on this one. I agree regulation is a definite possibility with a labour government.

S24 is a done deal and with Mark’s help ways to avoid the worst are appearing – incorporation, emigration, BICT etc. What worries me isn’t S24 but what else might be imposed. Labour took a healthy economy in 1997 and ran it into the ground! People were doped up and hooked on benefits.
I live in a safe Labour seat and my MP wants to be mayor of Manchester so that he can impose caps on rent!
I don’t like what the Conservatives have done but I trust them to try and look after the national economy. Labour would ruin the economy again and no other party stands a chance of getting in. I will vote Con but it will make no difference.
Meanwhile, propertywise, I am trying to stay flexible and agile.

How can you trust them to run the economy when they don’t understand the difference between revenue and profit?
