Has anyone read this? ‘Poor tenants pay for landlords to live like kings

I guess not, as you will all be too busy stuffing your faces with caviar whilst spilling champagne in the back of your Bentley.

I need to get in touch with this guy to find out where the tax breaks are because I just paid 41% tax on my profits!

On the basis of this article alone surely the Guardian need to start random drug testing of their journalists.

I loved the part about Cornwall being so expensive, it dovetails neatly into Shelter’s video about the fake couple being forced to live in Cornwall.

Wow, where to start with this article? From his very first statement - "Britain has enough housing ...." there are half-truths and falsities. His logic just doesn't stand up anywhere and he contradicts himself wholesale - "As there is a shortage of accessible housing ....". I just can't take the article seriously so don't get me started, but then it is the Gaurdian!

I only read the first line! I get all the on-line Guardian anti Landlord/Tenant claptrap through and i generally only get as far as the first sentence as usually they are so biased that i get no further. I boycott the Guardian and all its leftie hate filled anti LL headline grabbing rubbish. Sadly though this is the rhetoric that the government is responding to in their persistent attack on PRS.
We had a tenant just move into a brand newly built flat under build-to-rent (we built 8) 2nd day of his occupancy we have complaints from others in the block as he's stinking the building out with weed!!---Go report that Guardian!

He wrote/edited the report commissioned by the Labour Party, 'Land for the Many.' It was widely reported - mostly extreme, hard-left ideas aimed at taking everything they can get from anyone who has anything, to give to those who don't, regardless of merit. That's his version of fairness. According to this, people who work hard all their lives and are careful with money are somehow greedy capitalists who should have their assets expropriated from them and given to those who quite possibly earned the same amount or more, maybe even came from a moneyed family, but had a great time spending it along the way.

I just looked him up. I suspected he was an over-compensating posh boy, like Corbyn (but with a brain). I was right!

Yes, Ros, I have read this article and in fact drew attention to it on the post "Don't believe what you read in the papers". I advise against reading the comments if your blood pressure is already raised by reading the article. Of course, it's no more than we expect from Monbiot, the rewilding enthusiast with zero respect for individual property rights.

Yes, the whole psychology of wealthy, privileged people - often with right-wing parents, then going left-wing and rebelling against their parents has a lot to answer for. I believe Seamus Milne also falls into this category.
When I was growing up in Cardiff, living off benefits in a council house with my Dad as a single parent, it was very interesting to me to see a whole row of posh houses on the poshest street nearby housing a load of old Communists. As a George Orwell character once said (not sure if it was in 'Keep the Aspidistras Flying'), if only one could be rich enough to be a socialist (I paraphrase).
Reading the bio on Monbiot, it looks like he had some independent money at his disposal to be able to afford going on his expensive-sounding escapades around the world. I would imagine he made little from his book-writing, especially in the early days.

Hello everyone - I have a really stupid couple of questions for all these knockers of private landlords.

"what would happen to the housing market if all PSLs sold up and stuffed their money under their mattresses?"

"why do you ignore the corporate landlords who appear to charge the same as PSLs?"

Careful guys and girls this guy has a BA in Zoology which must on past history qualify him to be our next Chancellor, better than one in Geography I guess. This reminds me of Monty Python upper class twits sketches, I guess he needs mommy to change his nappy that's why all this misleading garbage is excreting. Lets face I doubt if he has any idea about business, real life or anything come to that and certainly is kidding himself if he thinks he's he is a Journalist more a comedy sketch writer of untruths. Keep up the good work George I enjoy a good laugh. These comments are my opinion of course, damn just dropped my caviar and knocked over the champers trying to catch it, never mind I can afford plenty more just put up the rents.
