Hi Mark

Well, at least he has given his members the chance to click on the links, learn more about the problem, and make their own minds up.

I wonder how many of them will then be as relaxed about the change as he is.

Hi Matt.
Your example is nice and clear, but I find it limited as it depicts a very modest rental - one house at rent of £400 per month. And it shows the basic rate taxpayer facing no difference. I wonder how typical that is of the impact of this proposal on the average landlord in the UK.
It is those of us who have set ourselves up as professional businesses who are going to be the most affected. And whilst not many people have a problem with a business person who has a chain of shops for instance, there seems to be a blind prejudice against those of us who have expanded in the BTL sector.

We are having a debate about the budget on Monday night and thanks to Mark Alexander for allowing me to post a link here to mention it. We hope to see you there and our members will be discussing how they plan on changing their strategy to accommodate the changes that are coming.

I have noticed that Portsmouth and District Landlords Association have a rating system on their blog.

I've rated them 1 out of 5 because zero wasn't an option - see >>> http://tinyurl.com/Prop118

Yes, it was an incredibly stupid and pompous piece. If he doesn't retract it, I think he'll be in trouble with his members.
I may be being melodramatic, but I keep thinking of the 1930s and 40s - the proposed confiscation of assets of a scapegoated group; how we need to keep focused and win our little war and not be defeatist, and now how someone who should be on our side is a kind of 'appeaser.' He'll probably realise further down the line that he's made a mistake and caused damage by his article, but I wouldn't hold my breath for an apology.
in the meantime, its onwards and upwards. We meet distractions and obstacles; we swat them out of our way and we get on with it.

I had forwarded it to my contacts & they informed that the site was not working. I have asked to forward the link to all who are involved in Buy to let.

I have read the Portsmouth and District Landlords Association article. I will not waste my time making comments on it. I'm moving on fighting the good fight.

As long as they sign, that's all that matters...
