    Hi again. The Chancellor is phasing this in over the next few years so I don’t think there will be panic selling. Sure some will definitely dispose of properties and who can blame them with all the legislation thrown at us and now the complete undermining of a basic business principle of Profit = Income – Costs.

    Assuming they sell to owner/occupiers then it’ll help to get rents to where we need them to take the tax change on the chin.

    However this petition has really got a life of its own and is doing incredibly well. We must simply continue the fight and as others have said here, do something every single day to stop the change happening.

    I do personally believe that the press will start coming on board with us, even the charities too when they see the effects of this. Mr Osborne will eventually have to take the sentiment on board, so no need to panic.

    Im not sure what you mean but you have me concerned now that I am about to be stalked for something or other.

    I have two posts because I am new. I had an email about this site/post and it appeared more lively than other LL sites. So I joined and signed the ptition.

    Now I am concerned about my personal affairs after your comment, thats a scary welcome to a new member!

    To all who have shared the petition on Facebook, please go back to your post, tag all the landlords you know and ask them to sign and tag more landlords they know.

    This is massive, TDS have just re-tweeted the following. We MUST follow up on this. Anybody here got a working business relationship with them? I use MyDeposits – shhh, don’t tell them that 😉

    I have some deposits registered with them. I’m happy to email them in the morning to try and promote the excellent work on this forum. Maybe if all P118 members who use TDS could do the same? Mark, time for another group wide email I think.

    I really like this:
    Profit = Income – Costs.
    I think that should become one of our mantras.
    Also, it was very important, what someone mentioned earlier, regarding getting everyone in the household to sign (I will be getting my mother to sign tomorrow, even if I have to set up an email account for her). And anyone visiting! My son’s teenage friend who is staying the night (and just signed and shared on his FB), is also my electrician’s son. When I mentioned my Labour MP had been supportive, he said: ‘Well of course he should be! Labour is for the working man!’ He said that landlords provide the vast majority of his father’s work and also his older brother works full time for his Dad. Landlords going out of business and/or not being able to afford to do repair works will be disastrous for our electrician and close friend (who has a lot of dependents to support). This teenage boy saw it straight away. So one message here is that we have to get this kind of message to Labour; that this will be disastrous for ‘the working man’ (as he quaintly put it – I may be a feminist, but that tickled me)

    I’ve tried the DPS but they wouldn’t let me speak on the ‘phone to anyone in ‘Special Ops’ (sounds like the Secret Service) and I had to send an email and get one of these ‘we’ll reply within 5 days’ answers. I don’t think they’re going to circulate it – already sent me something about ‘data protection,’ but apparently they have a newsletter… (I’ve never seen it, so I doubt the circulation is any good). If anyone else wants to have a go at getting the DPS on board, please do.

    Well done Dom

    Remember to share the petition on Facebook, then tag other landlords you know and ask them to do the same.

    This WILL go viral. Trust me, I’m a professional attention seeker 😉

    I have written an email to Guardian journalist Keir Starmer who wrote the article “A Rape Test for welfare a Chilling Way to save Money” showing how “Mad George” (my coinage) has tackled the withdrawal of the third child credit unless rape is proved. Article shows how nuts that budget proposal is.

    Switchboard for the Guardian / Observer 020 335 32000 if anyone else wants to contact them.
