What is the best Landlord accounting system?

9:40 AM, 1st February 2022, 4 years ago 8

Hi All, As a Landlord, I have been using Rent Central software for my accounts up until now.

However, it has now ceased operating and I need to find an alternative

I would like to ask what everyone else is using please and if they find it easy to get on with.

If anyone has a good accounting alternative they can recommend please I would be very grateful.

Many thanks

Richard

I use landlord vision. Scan/photo/download (whatever you find best) the receipt. The system generates an entry then and you can reconcile the bank, tenancies, properties etc and produces all reports you may need. Also has an app. Every certificate and reminder can be logged, each tenancy, and as many property details as you need. I think you get a discount too if an nrla member. It’s all mtd ready too

Never had a problem with it at all. Free trial and prices are based on your number of properties. Always had great support from them with very fast responses and talked through and issues/queries which is fab for a non computer user like me.

I use Smart Property Manager. It’s free for your first cupple of houses (and excluding a load of the reports). I now pay. It looks windows 95 but has all the functions.

I just use excel, but then its heavily modified for how I want it.. Some may think its mickey mouse these days but I have a degree in computing so its not your bog standard spreadsheet and it works for me.

    Hi

I’ve been using landlord studio as can use as an app or on my laptop

It’s very useful especially for receipts as I can scan the receipt and it auto populates values into the expense form

I did look around for an application to use as it was getting too time consuming to keep on top when tenants had late payments etc

Now I have dash boards and also can run reports for tenants instantly and send to tenants in pdf from app to WhatsApp or email for example

The support team are brilliant and have a great response time

I’ve actually been working with them on improvements as well as my accountant for the new reporting for tax that pending

I would recommend as has saved me hours a week and when payments are due the dash board has a list of properties under sections
Overdue, pending next 7 days, pending over 7 days so is easier

With 20 properties it’s changed my working life for the property side

Also bank reconciliations as others have

There is also a Facebook group so users ask questions of each other on use etc and normally within day your have an answer either from other users or software team

We use Arthur, it is a good programme with excellent support and it links to Xero the accounting programme, essential when we will have to submit quarterly accounts as our accountants can access everything on line.

We use Re-Leased as a property management software and it links with accounting software like Xero, Sage, QBO etc and it’s been great with helping us manage our portfolio
