Price Guarantee Landlord Insurance with Property118

Landlords Insurance - Landlords Buying GroupSeveral years ago my business partners and I were approached by an insurance broker who told us we could save a lot of money by combining our landlords insurance policies into a block policy. This was the beginning of our landlords buying group.

At that time we were in the business of arranging mortgages so we told our landlord clients how much money we we saving. They combined their landlords insurance policies with our block policy and so the scheme started to grow.

The bigger our landlords buying group became the more negotiating power we gained.

As time went by the word spread and before long hundreds of landlords had joined the group. We have switched insurance providers a few times when we have found better deals and we continue to shop around. To fund the administration we take a very small commission from the scheme provider. Some landlords have reported saving as much as 50% on their renewal premiums at the point of switching from their insurance provider to the current provider to our landlords buying group.

We are now at the stage where we can GUARANTEE to beat any like for like quotation for landlords insurance. Operated on behalf of Property118 by The Property Insurer in conjunction with Discount insurance. What’s more, by using our recommended Landlords Insurance providers you will also be helping to fund the running costs of Property118.com so you save money and our community benefits too. Everybody is a winner 🙂

I have also had a quote from Discount and it was competitive. However, as with other prominent advertisers for landlord insurance, this does not tell the whole picture.
It seems any provider can give a cheap quote but what are the EXCLUSIONS. To me, this is more important.
Not all will give malicious damage by tenants, some you pay extra to include subsidence. The main thing in common is the excess. Usually it is £250 or more. Sounds good now but when you have a claim, which is why you pay your premium, to find you have to put your hand in your pocket for £250 instead of £100, suddenly you can see why some premiums are cheaper.
Another thing to bear in mind is their claims handling and service. Remember this is what you are buying. Have a look at the reviews on line.

That is why our brokers GUARANTEE to beat any "like for like" quotation. The deal we have with them is that they will discount their commission (below zero if necessary) in order to secure your business. You may even end up with the same insurer, but most people who contact them end up with lower premiums AND better cover.

Yes. I went ahead and on Marks recommendation I am now insured with Discount Insurance. I was certainly very impressed with the service on the phone. However, I have not had to make a Claim yet.
I'm rather hoping Car Insurance might be next.

Hello Mark,
I went on line to get a quote for one of my properties from Discount and it quoted me a figure of £108.09 with a £250 excess and £500 water damage excess.

My own broker has come back with a figure of £106.43 with a £75 excess and water damage excess of £150. This is with a very reputable insurer and a household name.

This highlights my view that cheapest is not always desirable.
If I made a water damage claim with Discount, I would have to fork out £350 more with them than I would with my alternative.
Would Discount guarantee to match these excesses?
Does Discount also include Malicious Damage caused by a tenant?

I would be interested to get some feedback.

Hi JR,

For the Guarantee Discount will sometimes need to be able to see the quote you have to be able to work against it even if they make a loss.

I will get Jason to look into this for you if you can email me offline your full name, email address and telephone contact number with the quote you have.

Many thanks :)
