Price Guarantee Landlord Insurance with Property118

Landlords Insurance - Landlords Buying GroupSeveral years ago we were approached by an insurance broker who told us we could save a lot of money by combining our landlords insurance policies into a block policy. This was the beginning of our landlords buying group.

At that time we were in the business of arranging mortgages so we told our landlord clients how much money we were saving. They combined their landlords insurance policies with our block policy and so the scheme started to grow. The bigger our landlords buying group became the more negotiating power we gained.

I sent my full portfolio details on Monday and 5 working days later still no response, despite my chasing. The renewal is this month. Does anyone have any experience of how responsive they are if you actually have to claim? Thanks

Hello Mark,
I am a little confused. A while back I started to use Discount Insurance on 118's recommendation but changed to the Home Insurer, again on 118's recommendation. The reason that I did this, is when I contacted Discount Insurance about a problem and mentioned 118 they denied any connection with you.So I changed to Home Insurer and got a better deal. When I saw the comments from Elizabeth Gordon (on this thread) I thought that I ought to get some clarification on this ! Do you actually deal with both these companies and for future reference, should we go through 118 rather than dealing direct with the companies ? The reason I ask is that I have three properties now insured with Home Insurer but I am not sure if they have passed any benefits to you although they are aware that I started through you.
Thanks
John

Hello John,

Jason Mclean is the Principal of the Home Insurer and is our insurance partner, expert and runs our Buying Group so anything through him is Property118.

Discount had excellent products and rates, but have been struggling recently with renewal rates hence Jason stepping in to make sure readers get the best insurance.

Hi John

Good to talk to you just now and I hope our conversation cleared up any confusion. Just to confirm:

* The Home Insurer and Discount Insurance facilitate landlord insurance quotes and policies for 118
* Both pay commission to 118 as a result of any business placed to support the valuable work of 118
* The Home Insurer is the primary contact for insurance enquiries and we will direct enquiries to Discount Insurance if appropriate and best market for your insurance

Happy to talk through at any time and look forward to working with you and other landlords to try and save money and improve policies.

Discount Insurance! My cover expires on 5 April 2020 and only after I sent them an urgent reminder did they bother to send me renewal information . . . 5 days before the policy expires.

And guess what. They increased the premium by a whopping 25%, giving no reason, basically holding me to ransom since I now have no time to get alternative quotes PLUS we are in the middle of a pandemic and many insurance offices will be remotely operated meaning I have very little chance of finding new insurance.

They've shafted me. Shocking!!

I thought all insurance companies are supposed to provide at least 3 weeks notice of renewal to prevent exactly this kind of price gouging.

Hi SimonP

Sorry to hear this. I'll not make excuses for Discount but can advise they are no longer first choice provider here due to various reasons. Normally competitive, but not in your case. If I can help, please email me on jason@thehomeinsurer.co.uk, will do my best to match/beat last year's price from Discount.
