Is a vote for Reform the logical choice for landlords?
I’d appreciate your thoughts because it seems to me that the only realistic hope for landlords teaching the two major political Parties a lesson is to vote Reform in the hope of a Labour / Reform coalition. Surely that would put the cat among the pigeons!
Reform appears to me to be the only UK political party happy to fight for landlords and lower rates of tax.
Am I missing something?
I found this on their website …
HOUSING
The UK population has grown by over 1.3 million in just 2 years. Yet only 425,000 homes have been built. The Office of National Statistics forecast the population to grow by nearly 7 million between 2021 and 2036, putting huge pressure on housing.
Mass immigration is the main factor in this. Other factors that have damaged housing supply are overly bureaucratic planning regulations that delay decisions and add huge cost.
Critical reforms needed in the first 100 days:

Review the Planning System.
Fast track planning and tax incentives for development of brownfield sites, including unused offices and vacant high street properties. Review system of Section 106 Developer Contributions for infrastructure such as schools and surgeries to accelerate house building.

Reform Social Housing Law.
Prioritise local people and those who have paid into the system. In parts of the UK almost half of all social housing is occupied by someone born overseas. Foreign nationals must go to the back of the queue. Not the front.

Scrap the 2019 Tax Changes for Landlords.
The tax system should encourage smaller landlords into the rental markets. Not penalise them.

Abolish the Renters’ (Reform) Bill.
Existing legislation was adequate to address bad practices. Instead, we will boost the monitoring, appeals and enforcement process.
Thereafter:

Incentivise Use of New Construction Technology.
Such as modular construction, and smart infrastructure.

More Homegrown Qualified Traders.
New apprenticeships and vocational courses will increase the supply of skilled, well-paid workers to replace cheap overseas labour.
Housing Pledges Costs = £ Neutral

We’re going to get a Labour Gov and the Cons still wouldn’t get close even if LL’s continued to vote for them.
Reform are getting my vote.

I cannot see how reform will win any seats they have now fallen back to 11% in the polls.
I have absolutely no love for the Conservatives they have been a disaster but they are less likely to increase CGT
I can see Labour increasing CGT to at least 40% and what Labour have in store for the PRS is even worse than the Tories (if that is possible)
I would like to see Reform do a deal with the Tories and that way they might have a slice of the cake.

Labour, Conservative, Reform .. none of them will solve our problems. They will continue to give money to the NHS which will continue to wate it. No one can solve the illegal migration system as too many legal beagles depend on it for a gravy train. The PRS has had it until the court system is reformed – in 10 years..
.. and to cap it all no matter what we do, the two old duffers in the USA (whoever wins) will shaft the UK negating any economic recovery we might have.

To my mind Reform is the only party saying the right things and the only party with a potential leader. It won’t be easy for them but Farage has pulled off unlikely results in the past. I just hope it won’t take 20 years

What landlords appear to be saying is they can’t vote for a hung parliament because there is nothing positive to vote for. Section 21 abolition has only been postponed and rent controls are not on any landlord’s agenda – so why risk a Labour victory ? Since even a single property provides shelter and protection from the climate, the landlord’s vote logically should go to the Greens. The ‘Green’ focus however does seems to be anti-big-business so maybe not palatable to large landowners. The Raving Loonies are as good as Reform for a PRS protest vote.”

Wishful thinking maybe because the media can fool all of the people some of the time. However, even revolting colonials might just take note of the lead later on in the year and thank Rishi Sunak for going earlier. Maybe its our duty to show how democracy is meant to work.
