Gareth I hope you have no political ambitions. You are talking so much sense that you have no chance of a career running the country!
On a different point, I have recently become aware of the delays to building out new developments caused by environmental and archeological surveys. In North Somerset the housebuilding numbers calculated as necessary by local councillors have been overridden by diktat from central government increasing requirements by about 20%. This involves farmland around villages being developed so that narrow roads, local schools, doctors etc. are stretched beyond limit and villages sprawl until they almost join. However, the time taken before construction can begin can stretch to years as toads, newts, bats etc. are identified as present and have to be rehomed and entire badger breeding seasons must pass before their setts can be relocated (only to find they come back the following year). Archeological investigations can last years too. From a glance at the statistics this might appear to be land banking.

Just the beginning…we hope to repay all of our mortgages with TMW/Nationwide shortly when newco is up and running. Along with all the evictions, sales and rent increases it will be a while before the significant data shows through in it’s various forms…rent increases, homelessness, queues at Councils etc In fact i am surprised this article has come out so soon – might be a sign that the devastation we have all predicted on 118 really will come to be and sooner than anticipated.

There will be massive opportunities to clear up though through ltd company it’s creating a perfect buyers market low prices and high rental demand we have just snapped our first portfolio up from a landlord who is selling up every cloud and all that. Plus these lenders are going to be falling over themselves to lend because at the end of the day no lending = no profit

Barwell recognises the important role of BTL landlords. See here:

    https://www.theyworkforyou.com/wrans/?id=2017-02-06.63153.h&s=landlords#g63153.r0

One might like to write to him and ask him what he means be ‘recognising’ in this context? It seems to me he means ‘recognising and then treating with complete contempt that contribution.’

Pretty soon, they’re going to backtrack. I think the signs are beginning to show. And if they want us to then increase housing supply then as far as I’m concerned, they can get stuffed.

Let’s hope you’re right NW landlord as whilst I would never and still don’t wish this on my fellow landlord’s I know you will agree it is now the survival of the fittest. The protests must go on but it is happening and it will be a long time before the retards in parliament wake up and smell the coffee. In the meantime we’ve got a lot of money to make compensating for a wasted year in 2016 and ridiculous fees etc this year.

Please don’t take my comments as I am happy that my fellow landlords are being taken to the cleaners that is not the case my point is in times of uncertainty and panic great opportunities will present themselves I too have had a wasted 18 months like many others instead of focusing on making money I’ve been spending money, just so I can do the same thing under a ltd company banner. I’d love 30 mins in a room with George Osbourne but I don’t fancy going to prison ha

I do not trust that individual at all.
The same mantra about fairness, small impact, 1 in 5 landlords being affected, etc:
“At Summer Budget 2015, the Government set out a package of measures to reduce the budget deficit, rebalance the economy and make the tax system fairer.”
In reality – absolutely no change so far.
