    the similar stories should tell far and wide, average Joes view on landlords wont be so twristed will it? …of cause GO wont care..!

    Mark, i have a question really not about the discussion here: is a local Estate agent’s valuation adequte(official) to prove the house value at a time.. i wished i have done one to my btl last April, hope not too late do one now for the benefit of conculate cgt when comes to sale..? facebook access is blocked from where i am, sorry to use this space…

    This story was mentioned on the Today programme this morning: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-35583415 in which it was said that there are plans to cut the level of Housing Benefit paid to tenants in social housing to the levels of LHA paid in the private sector. As a result, some developments for supported housing will not be built.

    Does this not imply that we in the private sector, where we house LHA tenants, are more cost-effective than social housing?

    No it’s not essential, HMRC have several tools at their disposal including the HM Land Registry Calculators. If your figures were challenged you could instruct a RICS surveyor to produce a backdated valuation based on comparable sales at the time. It’s not a big issue. Estate Agent valuations wouldn’t carry much weight with HMRC though.

    No it’s not the tenants that pay, Gidiot thinks LLs will pay for all this new building, and HTB through SDLT and c24, he hasn’t yet worked out that the idea is we at least break even, so the cost has to be passed on, er, to who was that……….? Perhaps he could give them tax relief on the rent?

    What a load of bxll sxxt yet again glossy brochures offering great returns especially as they can offset finance costs. What would be the returns if that so called relief was taken away ?

    It is also worth nothing that yet again it’s the south being focused on, who will pick up the slack up north as clause 24 kicks in properly ? The governments whole housing policy is a car crash waiting to happen total and utter farce.

    Got to stop calling it C24… PLEASE …what next “c”? Expedience misses the point and will not engage anyone.

    It is not ROFCR or AIW or Clause 24 or even C24 it is

    TENANT TAX.

    Tenants will pay the increase tax burden through rent increases. If we want to have any chance of repealing Tenant Tax it we need tenants engaged and c24 is an area next at a51 and your vorpal blade will do you no good here –

    Only when the tenants and their benefactors realise their wallets and budget will be drastically affected by the Tenant Tax will we get true traction.

    Our spread of opinion on what to call Tenant Tax and ask of consistency it is akin to returning an Andy Murray serve with a dustbin lid.

    Government spin is just that… spin. Lets make them answer what Tenant Tax is not a tax on tenants.
