    Brilliant find Kathy.
That’s the first post or article I’ve seen that is against Shelter. I want us to build on that. Part of our campaign has to be to take on the group that sees it as their job to drive us into the ground whilst doing nothing positive for housing provision in this country.

I’ve written to my own MP (positive response so far) & my local Councillor but wanted to also write to each MP in whose Constituency I have a property (of which there are quite a few different Constituencies) but every single MP is Labour. On further checking which way each of these MP’s have voted on various issues in Parliament, they are all against reductions in welfare benefits & an increase in social housing akin to the views of Labour’s runner for Mayor; Sadiq Khan re his plans on how he will solve the housing crisis in London & I quote “I will do everything I can to protect Londoners renting in the private sector. I’ll introduce a new ‘London Living Rent’ model of intermediate housing – linking rents to a third of income. I’ll create a London-wide social letting agency, building on the brilliant work of London Councils and I’ll push the Government to give the Mayor the power to freeze rents in the private sector”. See full speech>>> http://www.newstatesman.com/politics/uk/2015/06/solving-housing-crisis-will-be-heart-my-mayoralty.
I therefore feel my letter to these MP’s will not only fall on deaf ears & be wasted effort on my part, but if anything, antagonize or motivate them further against the London Landlord community even more that they are now, irrespective of whether they’re Corbynites or not. Any other suggestions as to who I can write to in order to find those who might champion this cause & other battles we no doubt face?

“Given that the changes will only come in fully by 2020, what caused you to act so quickly wrt the section 21s?”

We have to act quickly. The game is up and the government is not for changing. They are not even debating now they have replied to questions and suggestions all that they intend to do – GAME OVER! – This is going to happen and so it seems energy should now be spent on making your changes – whatever you believe they should be for you and your family… BUT don’t delay…

Having 4 years to adjust and plan doesn’t mean you should take the 4 years – That would actually be foolish as we know the market now and have no idea what it will look like in 4 years time.

In 4 years time we may be facing a Corbyn government or worse still an emboldened GO as PM with a huge mandate which he will use to do more of this type of tax raiding. (Remember – Cameron said he will only do one more term and GO is PM in waiting)

I have had a reply from my MP Jeremy Hunt… It says…

“The Chancellor has replied to me, to confirm that there is nothing further he can add to his previous response of 9th September on the matter of financial cost relief for landlords.

I realise you will be disappointed, but at this point in time there is no further action I can take.”

Yes I think you might be right as it happened last time private BB housed benefit tenants and asylum seekers.

In around 2002 I looked at BB in Doncaster Queens /kings road. All the BB in that road were housing asylum seekers.

One it was massive payments and once property had started to be used for asylum seekers it stopped all traditional BB wanting to visit there. SO the rest followed or had empty houses.

It was quite an eye opener for me.

They will be stepping backwards as they had a deadline that councils had to stop the use of BB , 2006 I think. Hence the private leasing schemes with the PRS as it was much cheaper. They now also have temp social houses .

Does anyone have the going rate the council pay per area for a nights accommodation?

If people really understood that shelter has probably created more homelessness than it as stopped , I dont think any homeless people would go there. But their marketing campaigns must be good, but then they have all our money to fund that.

All the more reason to label it Tenant Tax – and bang on and on about it Fore others to debunk it or decry it – get mad but don’t ignore it… It will effect everyone! EVERYONE
