Mine was a question, not a statement. Has he agreed to promote the e-petition?

High Yield, please do not come here and start spreading pessimism. Mark and his comrades are doing great job by conducting, e-petition and exhibiting huge enthusiasm to stand against injustice.
Your personality is better suited to Housepricescrash.com you have probably dropped in here by accident?
This site is exclusive to serious landlords.

Hi Ian
I also got the same respose from NLA – they are not very interested in the opinions of their members or want to be involved in any direct communication with them – they seem mainly interested in advertising.
If that’s their attitude – then members should withdraw their membership.

Mark – I have sent Ant a message and await his reply. My earlier comment was about Miss Cheltenham agreeing to help support our campaign.

“Social media is very powerful as we know – but to get “Joe public ” to even be vaguely interested it needs to appeal to them – a link to a petition on its own wont do – we need some good narratives to appeal to different sectors of society to get them to sign and share”
I think it is harder than just getting them interested. Much of Joe Public will be delighted that landlords are getting “what they deserve”. I don’t know what it is like wherever everyone is, but here in London landlords are not popular.

Ah yes I see, I’m delighted Miss Cheltenham is with on on this as she’s fast becoming quite a celeb 🙂
I hope lots of property118 members vote for her, we could be doing ourselves a massive favour, her and her boyfriend too of course!

Hello Gentle Landlord,
I’m sorry that you feel that my post in any way engendered pessimism. I respect Mark’s stand against injustice, and I support his valiant (if doomed in my humble opinion) against injustice. I was trying to point out that the leaders of the Conservative party will put their school friends (i.e. the thousand families who own Britain) before the few new landlords who rely on debt – their stance on taxing debt shows clearly where loyalties lie.
I haven’t heard about Housepricescrash.com, and I can’t find a site there after your recommendation – do you have a link please?
I was pointed here after a recommendation from a landlord friend of mine and I was trying to introduce a different perspective. The 1,000 families who own the UK are – imho – destroying normal people who want to challenge them.
But what do I know? Just arrived here, and am very interested on your perspective.
Respectfully yours,
High Yield

I did not put a link to the other petition on purpose, so as not to inadvertently direct traffic to it, but Ros you may want to have a search for it on the petition.parliament.uk website and quietly contact the owner of that one? Its called ‘Reverse the planned tax relief restriction on ‘individual’ landlords’
Competing petitions (especially on the same site) will dilute the impact…

Yes, Monty. The emails we write to different individuals and groups must be nicely honed. So, for example, we should draft a nice, short one for our tenants. It must not scare them or unsettle them – but be forceful enough to get them to sign. BTL did a letter a few pages back – maybe he can shorten it for us and we can all use it as a template. A template for that kind of email will be fine ( – they don’t have to be varied).
Personally, I am going to have a table where I note whom I have contacted and when, with a column for if and when they have responded and then another column if I contact them again to remind them.
What is missing at the moment is some co-ordination. I’m wondering if John’s new website could have a facility whereby we each can insert whom we have contacted and when etc., to avoid too much duplication and to not miss out important groups and individuals. Eg. we could then make sure that every MP was getting written to.
