Really bad news. They've rejected the petition. Below is the email I just received. We need to think tactics. Ideas welcome regarding how to get over this latest obstacle:

'We rejected the petition you created – “Scrap the mortgage interest tax levy before it forces tenants out and rents up!”.

There is already a petition about this issue.

Click this link to see your rejected petition:

We only reject petitions that don’t meet the petition standards:

Yes, Mark.
I did a search on that person's name the other night and couldn't find him. Perhaps others will be better at this. That is definitely the right approach to take first. If he is genuine, he should agree. Can everyone give this a shot?
Don't panic (Mr Mainwaring)!

Mark Alexander suggests that we need to get hold of Ruhal Uddin, who posted the petition that was accepted. We either need to get hold of the administrators or the guy himself. He is not on this site, I take it.

Please could you contact the Administrators. Perhaps they could contact the guy who posted the petition they have accepted? There is a link attached to the message in your email:

If we reject your petition, we’ll tell you why. If we can, we’ll suggest other ways you could raise your issue.

We publish the text of petitions that we reject, as long as they’re not illegal, offensive or confidential.

If you have any other questions, please get in touch.

Three people of this name come up on Facebook. The first on the list shows a BMW as his cover photo but in the photo's section of his page you can see the petition. We've found our guy but my experience of using FB to contact someone who isn't your friend has never worked.

I'll give it a go though. Anybody want to suggest anything particular on how we word the approach to him please?

I have found him on Facebook.
I never use facebook so am not au fait with it. I sent him a message, but apparently it will go in his 'other' folder. Can others also send messages to him? The more he receives, maybe the more likely he will be to see them and agree to close his petition in favour of ours? This is the link:

I've just googled Ruhal Uddin...apparently he's on Facebook...I don't use Facebook, maybe someone else on here can get to him that way?

Sorry, I've just seen that Ros has asked the same! and John!!

He's also on Linked In if it's the same guy

As I posted above Ros, never had any luck with messaging someone that isn't a friend on FB so I've done a friend request instead. I'd suggest we all take this approach. He may be curious as to why he's become so popular and accept the requests. The we can message him without it going to the 'other folder'.

Yes, I've sent him a friend request also.
I wonder if someone here can work out roughly where he lives - and see if anyone lives nearby and might know if he belongs to a mutual landlords association/has mutual friends/can work out where he works....
