I have been asked many times over the last 10 years why we decided to call our website Property118
There have been many wrong guesses, and I have to admit several of them have been absolutely fascinating, so I decided to do a bit more research.
I’ve added below extracts from a completely unrelated website which explores some of the spiritual perceptions of the meanings of the number 118.
This was one of the guesses a tax planning client of ours drew my attention to. I have provided a link to the website our client drew our attention to later in this article.

The number 118 people are true leaders, independent and self–sufficient. They are spiritually evolved and often seek professions in these areas. They often use their abilities to help others. These people enjoy new projects and incline towards gaining wealth and abundance in life.

The angel number 118 signifies abundance.
When it appears in your life, expect abundance in all areas of your life and your love life as well.
When this number is reduced to a single digit, we get the number 1. That is why, this number resonates with the energies of the numbers 1 and 8.
The energy of the number 1 is amplified in this number because it appears twice and 1 is also a result of the adding of all the digits in this number.
The number 1 signifies leadership, determination, new beginnings, exploring new things and independence.
The number 8 signifies abundance, wealth, karma, spiritual universal laws, etc.
The people who resonate with this number are very independent and have leadership qualities.
They like to start their own projects and don’t need other people’s help in finishing them. They are very action oriented and have a strong initiative. They can incline towards gaining abundance and wealth, but can also be interested in spiritually based professions where they could use their natural gifts and abilities to serve and help other people and the humanity as a whole.
If you suddenly started seeing the angel number 118 everywhere, consider yourself lucky. This number often indicates the improvement of your financial situation in the near future.
The angels are reminding you to trust that the circumstances are going in the right direction when it comes to your finances. Have faith and release all thoughts of lack and worry.
You know you can call on the angels for help and encouragement when you become overwhelmed with doubt and fear.
The angel number 118 also indicates endings of some important life cycles or phases in your life so that new opportunities could take their place.

The reality is that the above has nothing whatsoever to do with the real reason we chose to call our business Property118. I’ll share that with you another day in another article, or maybe I will make it comment number 118 on this article, if we get that many comments from people who would like to share their guesses or thoughts in the comments section below.

So many great guesses so far.
The first page ever published was in 6th Jan 2010 so almost January 18th which would have been 118 to my friends in Florida. Not the right answer though.
Psalm 118 is indeed the Centre of the Bible and 118.8 is the exact centre, but again not right.
It is true that I was a professional break dancer in my teens but I wasn’t aware of the 118 beats thing ... if that is indeed a thing!
The correct answer is that Directories numbers were all changed to 118 when 192 Directory enquiries lost their Monopoly. It was nothing to do with the men with moustaches though. When we first started we were a joint venture with Thomson Local Directories, which is also where our corporate colours came from at the time and which we have stuck with ever since, even though we are no longer connected to Thomson Local who are now part of the Reuters group.
There was also another reason, which is that the names of several barristers chambers contained a number and it was always my vision for the website to focus on property, finance tax and law. Who’d have thought that one day we would have a Barristers Chambers as a corporate board member?

I think it was during the earlier controversy over Bank of Ireland/Bristol & West hiking their interest rates that 118 really took off. Unfortunately they got away with it whereas West Brom got their comeuppance.
