Residential tenancy taken out by my company director who has left?
Hi there, I have a question regarding a rental lease taken out by my company naming me as the tenant.
The particular director who authorised the lease has since resigned. The rent hasn’t been paid up to date and the Landlords want the house back.
I received a letter saying we are squatting as the director who signed the lease has left the business!
My family will be on the streets, I can’t quite get my head around this.

Hi MH, the landlord cannot evict you without a court order. I cannot see the relevance of the fact that a director has resigned. What do you mean by “a rental lease taken out by my company naming me as the tenant”. Who is the tenant? You or the company?
You should take legal advice immediately.

It seems the lease was signed by the company and you (and your family) are the tenants and named as such on the lease. As Narberth states the fact that a director has left is irrelevant even if the name of the company is on the lease. Presumably the company is still trading.

I know this is an old post but why is the rent not up to date, is the accommodation provided by your employment?
