Is changing an outside blind considered an alteration?
I have a flat on the ground floor of a block of flats with an outside blind which can be lowered.
A Director informed me on a visit to the flat, that my blinds needed replacing as they looked worn and shabby. She did not inform me that I would first need permission from the Management Company.
I went ahead and fitted a new blind – the existing colour was not available from the Company they recommended.
The management company are now saying the colour of the blind does not match the other blinds! They want me to change them as the lease states all alterations to the flat have to be approved
Is replacing an outside blind an alteration please?

Hi Martin,
If it alters the external appearance of the property I would think it highly likely it will require permission.

It is a retractable blind so when it is “closed” it is hardly visible.
