Inspection of the fire doors?

I’ve recently received an email from my Management Company saying an inspection of the doors to the flats is required to see if they are rated FD30a.

The flats are in Cornwall and according to the Management Company, it is an initiative which is likely to become law later this year.

I am a bit surprised because I had to have a fire door fitted to a flat in Somerset back in 2012 following an inspection by the Council.

Can anyone shed any light on this, please?

Thanks

Really good point on the referencing out to further documents and cost. This complexity is not in anyone's best interests. My experience with the two Councils I have interacted with has been positive. They have been consistent, clear, fair and professional at all times. My current issues is electrical safety standard compliance (I have a degree in electrical engineering). Just had two seperate electricians do certification on an refurb installation that I did five years ago that are so widely different in recommendation.

Can anyone recommend a company in west London that specialises in fire door set installation? I own a Victorian property converted into two flats and the entrance doors are the original large period ones with fan lights above them too. I tried a few years ago to get quotes to replace these from three or four specialist companies (from a google search) and despite chasing just couldn’t get anyone to even come out and look. Thank you!

What is an FD30a, I’ve never heard of this, my question relates to the ‘a’ ?
I’m guessing it’s a typo as it’s next to the ‘s’ on the keyboard.

The BS is not a legally enforceable "thing" but the requirement to fit doors to this standard is enshrined in various bits of legislation (national HMO licence standards, local licensing conditions, HHSRS, H(FHH)A, etc) and therefore the requirement to achieve this is enforceable through them.

My guess is a typo as 'a' next to 's' on keyboard. FD30s is FD30 with smoke seal.
