Crime Stats – specific to rental properties?

Crime Stats – specific to rental properties?

Hello, Does anyone know how to find out the detailed crime stats for an area (postcode or actual road)? I am trying to pull together info to prove that selective licencing (SL) has been granted by the Secretary of State, but on the basis that the info presented by the council is factually incorrect and that it has been mis interpreted/mis-used only in order to gain permission for SL to be implemented.

I am happy to put in a FOI if necessary but to where exactly?

I want to be able to show that the total crime breakdown (in a postcode/road), when categorised, cannot be something where the root cause is always attributable to a private rental property (for which a SL is required). For example, if the crime rate is high in an area because of sexual assault/GBH/Drug offences/theft from commercial premises then this is NOT indicative of issues specific to rental properties, and as such the need for SL (and the reason for it to be requested by the council to the Secretary of State) is unfounded and therefore unwarranted/unjustified.

Thank you,

Reluctant Landlord

Try this
https://www.police.uk/

You can register for monthly updates.

It also makes a useful tool for those looking to buy in an area which is unfamiliar to them.

Which council?

Good luck and let us know how you get on.

Good luck with this. I spent days collating crime and anti social behaviour figures in the proposed SL area of West Lindsey. The area included the town centre where a lot of the crime was committed on weekend evenings. They totally dismissed my findings and went ahead anyway. Councils use SL as a cash cow and are not interested in listening to facts. I wish you more success than I had.

thanks - SL is already in place. What I want to do is undermine the evidence they relied on to get it passed by the SofS in the first place.

Going forward, the same evidential stats can then be used to show that SL has made no difference in the same regard - and actually show it is completely ineffective in what it was supposed to apparently achieve.

This issue has really got my goat and needs calling out. Totally bl**dy wrong for a million differrent reasons. I'm hoping that a local MP that is looking to keep their seat picks up on this up as a potential vote/self skin saving lifeline I'm throwing their way and rolls with it.

The Streetcheck site has a load of info, but not sure if it delivers the level of detail you're seeking.

I've done all this, Govt nor Council weren't bothered.
100% fact proved NO misdemeanours on my road.
They said it's an 'area'.
