It just proves how self-serving politicians can be.

I pity his constituents who must be getting zero service. Perhaps his local Tatton Conservative Party should be petitioned for a vote of no confidence in him?

I just read that on ES website. Cannot believe what I am reading.
How their idea of dispossessed funds agree with these very people being made homeless by osborne's regulations?
I am going to write to them.
London tenants must be thrilled!

Just received the following from Theresa May

So I’ve forwarded this to my MP, Andrew Murrison with the following email: (please do the same).

Andrew

Would you ask Theresa May if under the second point there is in the “small print” the exception for private Landlords under S.24 . It may be next to the one about NICs and the self-employed.

I hope you have a good week-end.

Dear Barry,

The EU referendum result was an instruction to change the way our country works, and the people for whom it works, forever. It was a call to make Britain a country that works for everyone, not just the privileged few.

That’s why today I set out our Plan for Britain.

1. A Global Britain that is outward looking
2. A stronger economy where everyone plays by the same rules
3. A fairer society where success is based on merit, not privilege
4. A united nation that our children and grandchildren are proud to call home

You can support our Plan for Britain today.

Our Plan for Britain will deliver a country that is stronger, fairer, more united and more outward looking than ever before. It’s a plan to get the right deal for Britain abroad and a better deal for ordinary working people at home.

So support our plan and together let’s deliver a stronger, fairer, and better Britain.

Thank you for your support.

Theresa May

I got the same, Barry, and also gave them a piece of my mind. Hypocrites and liars that they are.

What they will argue of course, is that s24 is not an increase in income tax but a reduction in income tax relief, so a completely different thing (even though it will have the same effect).

The concern I have is that now this NI tax increase has been had been thwarted, that they will come looking for more money elsewhere and that landlords will be seen as the perfect target.

Attacking landlords plays to the galleries very well on themes like generation rent, the have nots, wealth inequality, housing shortage etc without appreciating that a strong PRS is part of the solution.

That was exactly the reply I go from my less than supportive Tory MP - so "no Income Tax rises" is just weasel words.

Lies, damn lies and Government manifesto promises.

Yet more enlightenment from the Irish .... oh that Hammond, Barwell and Co could start thinking like this (although the Irish are dabbling with rent controls - far less damaging than S24 though)

A copy is on its way to my MP who insists on parroting the Treasury line still.

The writing is on the wall why can't these idiots learn from the failed policy in Ireland ? It's obvious they are still suffering a hangover from a less harsh policy ? Why can't they just see the damage they are going to do to a very important industry ? It defies belief that these morons are running our country riding rough shot over industry's they have very little knowledge of ? To say it's frustrating is an understatement they have a real life example to compare with
