“However, notwithstanding the various initiatives aimed at curbing buy-to-let, the reality is that the market, and the PRS that it supports, are essential parts of our housing supply.

“It is unfortunate that this is not acknowledged by policy makers, whose actions will primarily affect the tenants who they are arguably aiming to support: the prospect of higher tax on buy-to-let is already pushing up rents.”

    Never a truer word.

Large drop in new Rental Housing listings

“Profits have been hit hard and those landlords that decide to stick with it, may just be forced to push up rents – not a promising prospect for tenants,”

With reports of Landlords selling up, and not investing; is this any surprise? And S.24 hasn’t kicked in yet!

I hope Philip Hammond is keeping up with all media news in relation to this subject.

Wouldn’t hold my breath… considering major disagreement between him and the PM he is probably fighting for his position.

Keeping up with news, industry seems to make more noise about Stamp Duty than Mortgage Interest Relief. It would appear that Chancellor is likely to reform Stamp Duty for sure. In relation to Mortgage Interest Relief, I think it “hangs in balance”

I have a letter from Philip and it’s less than a month old in which she tells me all 4 Tenant Taxed are perfect and wonderful are based on fact & will cause no damage. In fact they level the playing field. I do not know what you are all whining about goodness gracious me…! if Phil says he’s right it’s right ! Pack it in and get on with it would you?

I wonder, if you could produce so-called letter from Wonderland which stipulates the garbage you have been claiming for past month. Philip Hammond produces no letters and I know this for sure.

There is tension in the air. Take a break unless you have not yet lobbied all you can. We all need to keep batteries charged.

By the way in answer to Kathy Miller. Did not get chance to get all points across to Kenneth Clarke but he did not buy the phrase tenant tax etc for what that is worth.

We have all put up a good fight. We are batting of a sticky wicket since we lose out in popularity stakes.

We are also becoming more professional, informed, united and vocal. In time we will be proved to be correct, but by then some damage will be done. Time to limit the personal damage unless the Autumn statement holds more good news than Christmas is coming.
