    Brilliant letter Rachel.
Perhaps you can submit it to the site here – as an open letter to Grant Shapps? It’s quite straightforward – just go to ‘create an article’ above and copy and paste over. It will be seen by more people that way and you can even let Grant Shapps know that it is now on a public forum, provide the link to journalists and so on. That would be really good.

Yea sure is good. Just possible Fallon will have told Shapps about it, I also referred Fallon to Trendo’s posting, so he could see the widespread sentiment, and low and behold a stunning letter like that comes along.

On p44 para 6.2.1 says it all, “Tenants Pay the Price” not the way we want it, but a fact of life.

DT Business p4 says today, come the Spring the refugee numbers to Europe is set to quadruple. They are in a truly desperate situation, but that is a massive problem for every country. Fewer rentals at the lower end here can’t help. A perfect storm brewing.

A further update from Chris & Steve regarding the Judicial Review:

“End of week update on the Judicial Review (please tag and share as widely as possible)…

Today we received the first draft of the letter that is to be sent to government. Our case is clear and solid and once sent, we will issue a more detailed update. We are reviewing the letter over the weekend and plan to have it finalised with the lawyers next week.
Our media campaign is also being prepared for a very big push next week/week after and more and more organisations and supporters are coming on board.

We will be writing an “open letter” and sending this to the national media who are following us closely. This letter will outline our case and our fight, with a view of raising awareness and fostering much more support The more organisations willing to put their name behind our Coalition, the better. Please let us know if you can get organisations who represent landlords, tenants, letting agents and others who benefit from the buy to let market to come on board. We just need names, contact details and the number and type of people they represent. And your help in helping get them on our side and putting them in touch is welcomed.

A new funding campaign will be needed, subject to us being granted “our day in court”. We should know this within the next few months.

Thanks to everyone for your support and for spreading our messages far and wide.

    Steve and Chris”

    Hi Chris.
Does this mean you have been to see Fallon? I know that two landlords went to see him today and they were told that no other landlord had been to see him.

Many of you may remember Shapps was the housing minister.

He had the opportunity to resolve the long scandalous behaviour of the Freeholders/Managing Agents extorting money. He failed as normal reply was/is ” on balance it is working well” .

A classic incompetent MP, who sits on the fence.

No, not been to see Fallon, he sent me the same email others had about defence. Unsolicited. I have no doubt he got it from Conservative central office, from when I wrote about Devine. Probably misuse of data for a different purpose. However thought it was a good opportunity to appraise him why I am peed off with his chums.

Just watched the recording of Taxfree Town, very good. Which is the coffee shop you mentioned, Crickhowell makes a nice change from Hay for a coffee for us.

Interesting letter from Paragon / Mortgage Trust today, making sure that their borrowers are fully aware of both Clause 24 and the changes in SDLT. They say that they will consider on a case-by-case basis moving a mortgage from a personal name into a new limited company set up for the purpose. I guess we shall see more lenders doing the same as time passes
