I agree mark by 2020 the impact of these mis guided and unfair policies will bite just gotta be ahead of the game and I’d like to thank this forum for assisting me doing that

The problem is lack of affordability and changing attitudes towards home ownership. The housing market is broken top to bottom not enough FTB and second and third tier properties are out of reach for most

In our area your 4 bed detached houses around 350 400 are not selling as nobody can afford the next step up this leaving our parents unable to downsize like my parents who haven’t had one viewing in two years due to that particular sector being saturated with properties

That generation are sitting on inflated assets that our generation cannot afford to buy

In simple terms housing is overpriced and artificial hence why people have to borrow so much 5/6 times salary untill prices across the board come down considerably then it will stay broken. If this happens however many will be sitting on negative equity assets which will have massive knock on effects for the economy hence why governments will not let it happen

My suggestion would be to assist homeowners to reduce their mortgages by 30/40% allowing for prices to decrease across the board and get the market moving and get back to reality sounds idealistic and how would you do it ? That’s the million dollar question

First forcing landlords to charge more to their tenants with the tax changes and now this…

No tenant is safe! The government machine is attacking them on all fronts.

There has been much conjecture on George Osborne’s plan. I believe that the problem is GO does not have a plan beyond the obvious cash cow, all the so called explanations (levelling playing fields for instance) are mere excuses for ill considered policies.

Laura, I happen to think you are being realistic. It is wise to prepare for the worst possible outcome. I’m making moves now to position myself and protects assets the best way I know how.

This so called recovery is a complete fallacy, and my view is that the governments finances are going to continue to get worst regardless of which party is in power. Either government will take ever more desperate measures to pay their ever expanding credit card bill (aka the deficit).

    ML and Laura

You have both said that you are planning for the worst and in Laura’s case “considering”.

May I ask what your plan and considerations are please? I’ve been very open about mine as you know and the feedback I’ve received has been extremely valuable.

There will be another financial crash 100% the recovery is based on …. You guessed it consumer spending with money they haven’t got sound familar ? Nothing has changed and won’t do as everyone in the western world is hooked on the drug called DEBT

Unsecured debt is growing at its fastest rare since the crash, pay day loans rocketing that’s what the Bank of England should be monitoring not buy to let loans stress tested at 5% plus and 25% deposit that’s why it’s growing because it’s a safe bet for the lenders

My new purchases are yielding after mortgages have been paid even the Bank of England haven’t got a clue we are ran by people who have never been in business or the real world
