Tigrent Learning – would you recommend this training?

I would like to move into property investing but have no experience whatsoever. I have a friend who went through Tigrent Learning and is now a successful property investor and I would like to follow in her footsteps. However, the course is very expensive and I want to show my family it is worth it and in order to do that, I would like to know how other investors who are successful without going through Tigrent did it and whether they would have spent £18000 on a course to help them every step of the way by other professional successful property investors. Tigrent Learning - would you recommend this training

Many thanks

Claudia

Hi, I have just come across this thread and feel inspired to leave a comment. Myself and my husband came through Tigrent Learning about 4 years ago and we are happy customers. We have gone on to create financial freedom through investing with creative strategies we learnt and the ongoing support of Tigrent. Ultimately, whatever you spend/invest on education has to be related to the value, and if by investing £18-20k you learn how to make it back ten fold (and some!) then what's the problem?

People will always find a negative and complain about something but unfortunately not enough people want to give praise or spread a good word. I personally know MANY people who have taken this training and have got what they wanted by taking ACTION, maybe that's the key part, they're not going to do it for you, no matter what the price!

I have been to landlord forums, accreditation schemes, read books, websites etc...it's not enough. Every deal is different and everyone's situation isn't the same, and believe me by investing £20k in ourselves that was a major reason we were committed to making it work. Whatever it takes! You can make money or make excuses but you can't make both! I hope this helps someone.

Hi Malaika

You appear to be saying that spending £20,000 of your money on training courses is what has motivated you to "take action" and start investing into property. That doesn't make sense to me.

Surely the £20,000 would have been better invested into a property?

It seems to me that you have spent £20,000 just to give you some extra confidence. I see no logic in that given the information freely available. There is no secret recipe to success in property investment, it is all shared freely if you can be bothered to read it. Spending money to get pumped up to spend more money simply doesn't sit well with me.

A friend of mine did this course last month, cost him £900 for 3 days. He said he didn't learn anything he couldnt have learnt on the Internet or talking to me. Apparently the end game for tigrent was all about selling him a mentorship for some ridiculous fee, he said it got a bit full on at the end with them practically not letting you leave unless you've signed up. He's a copper and didn't fall for it but he said people were getting there cheque books out left right and centre.

Personally I would seriously question the legality of some of the "creative" strategies being promoted by some of the so called expert property mentors out there charging huge sums of money for the promise of making you a millionaire. But as they say a fool and there money are easily parted! (I think that's the saying

In reply to Malaika Green's comment. I attended a "free" Tigrent course at the weekend where you were the speaker and pushing very hard for people to take up the 3 day course for £997. So with all due respect, you may well be a happy customer but you are also on their payroll.

Interesting post Gemma, mmm.

Lots of info at this very site of Marks - so hope all read it
It's the least someone can do for someone who has spent a lot of time fighting for landlords against the odious West Bromwich Building Society. (I don't see many of the "get rich quick folks" putting themselves out in this way. They are too busy selling courses!)

Suggestion for folks tempted by expensive courses - For £30 got to Amazon, search for "buy to let" books and buy five of them. Can suggest a very good one!
Think that will give anyone enough info.
Then keep checking this site, join Property Investor News (for the serious investors) @ about £100 per annum and join a landlords association (about £80 per annum) which includes a magazine sent 6 times a year.
You will have more than enough real info.

And the big question is this: If someone is so good making money from property, why run education courses? Surely like me, they would spend most of their time either relaxing (if they've "made it") or looking after their properties / buying new ones (if they needed too)
They would not waste too much of their time giving courses.

And I don't believe the guff about helping others on huge courses.
Of course, we all help other people we meet on a one to one at landlords and investors meetings. Of course we do!

But we are not finding a cure for cancer here or eradicating malarial mosquitos - so those of us who know this business are not exactly on a moral crusade to help hundreds of those who don't yet understand it.

And at the end of the day, it's just buying and letting property.
A bit hard, at times, but not rocket science and whilst a good thing to do, because we house people, it's not up there and ranking with saving millions of lives.

A first time post for me!

As part of my 'due diligence' research after just attending a free 2 hour presentation from Tigrent about 'Brick Buy Brick'/ 'Martin Roberts PI', I found this site/forum.

The comments sum up exactly what I was thinking and although the presenter was 'very good', especially at explaining his 'rags to riches' story, one has to wonder why he was there!

The comment from Malaika Green (a name mentioned today) above is indicative of an 'educational incestuous relationship' as was some other research about one of the 3 day course leaders!

The 'upselling' from the 3 day course was not mentioned and although there is a first morning refund guarantee I doubt it would be mentioned before then either!

As someone who is exploring this area for investing part of my early retirement lump sum I think the advices given in answer to the question are very sensible and pragmatic - thanks to all those who have contributed so wisely.

Hi all, I just finished my 3 days property course over the weekend (paid £999, you also get to bring along a guest with you) with Tigrent learning which promised so much when i signed up after the first free 2 hr seminar in bristol. Well my opinion about the 3 day program was it was ok. do I think I got value for my money strictly speaking I dont think so but having said that there was lot of things that people like myself who is new to property investing can learn.

we had two great investors/speakers who gave us lot of tips which were not not the presentation slides which was very nice of them. the second and third day is when they start to advertise the additional courses which is way expensive (£21,000 if you buy during those 3 days, else £26000). They make you feel like by doing their course is the only way you can be financially free in 2 years. after thinking long & hard I didnt sign up for the course as i don't have that much sum to start with and also for me its like running before I can even walk.

Claudia I assume you are in the same position as me a newbie in property investing. my gut feeling tells me if we put hard work and dedication i cant see why we can,t be successful might takes us longer time but we will get there eventually.

Hi all,
I did attend the Tigrent 3 day course outside the UK, and all the aggressive marketing of the Elite course got to me and was so annoying at the end. I am a foreigner with an interest in investing in the UK but only a modest investment so paying Tigrent amount of money they asked for the Elite course is ridiculous.

Now that I have found myself in this site, how would I go about investing in the UK especially since I am not based in the UK? Can I get someone to work with?
