Are you a landlord who has already started making your properties energy-efficient? Then Rachel Mortimer, Assistant Money Editor, at the Times would like to speak with you.
Rachel is looking to speak with landlords who have already begun making eco upgrades to their rental properties, despite the government proposals on minimum EPC ratings being uncertain.
Perhaps you have been met with supply chain and pricing challenges too. The piece will look at where in the country rental EPCs are improving, but also the challenges in the sector (eg little guidance from the government, rising costs and delays in works).
Rachel is looking to speak to landlords before the end of the day on Tuesday 12th September. If you think you can help please email [email protected]
Every day, landlords who want to influence policy and share real-world experience add their voice here. Your perspective helps keep the debate balanced.

So by the end of Tuesday 12th September…so that’s the end of today then.
I’m not making Eco upgrades. That’s because the investment that I make now may not count when the government finally tells us how the EPC system is going to work. It’s also because I can’t deduct the cost of improvements against revenue expenditure and I have to finance that as capital expenditure and the cost of finance is going up.
If you look through the other threads on this site concerning EPC improvements then you will probably find site users who are doing upgrades. My best guess is that this will be the large incorporated landlords because their situation is very different from that of a small landlord with just one or two properties.
