Tenant rights at the end of an agricultural licence?
Could anyone please offer advice or contacts for tenant rights at the end of a tenancy, which is an agricultural licence? This is a different area of letting to my own business.
I have multiple examples of tenants being outrageously overcharged for the outgoing condition of their property, and the money is simply deducted from their last month’s wage.
Is a dispute process possible?
Many thanks
Julie

Hi Julie
You’re quite right, it’s a specialist area of work.
The first thing is to establish the basis of occupation. Many farmer employers actually get it wrong. Is the occupier a licensee or a tenant? There are quite definitive rules for farmworkers occupying houses.
I’d be happy to take a quick look if it helps. I have done this type of work for years – I did the cottages for the Co-op farms when they were the biggest farmer in the country.

Thank you Graham. The agreement contains the word ‘licensee’. Would it be possible for you to take a look at the 2 page agreement somehow?

Hi Julie
I am not sure of the 118 etiquette (although Mark has sent me stuff in the past), but if you Google me I come up very readily and you can email me the documents over to take a look. Happy to take a preliminary look and see if I can help.
