I don't think the government has any intension of 'giving' me my property back. I will have waited 18 months by the end of May, and even if the ban is lifted, I am sure I will still be waiting for the court to sort itself out. The fact that Kwarteng along with the PM and other ministers keep using the World Economic Forum's phrase 'Build Back Better' just speaks volumes.

Yes, it is a disgrace how they are treating decent landlords often with deliberately non-paying tenants. They are very generous with other people's money. As Conservatives, they should hang their heads in shame.
Incidentally, there was a Conservative MP on Politics Live a few days ago who actually said he believed in 'rent forgiveness.' That is, that landlords should let tenants off the huge arrears they have in some cases built up. It's fine if he wants to put his hand in his own pocket and pay off someone's debt, but to think he is being kind and caring in suggesting landlords should is despicable. This was previously a demand of the far-left and even the previous Shadow Labour Housing Minister actually pointed out this was a non-starter, legally.

Yet another extension has nothing to do with protecting the vulnerable tenants the govt claim to be serving; rather another cynical move to avoid the cost of housing those rightly evicted and appear friendly to ‘generation rent’ All the main political parties are indulging so this is not a party political point.
Let’s face it with the visually non functioning courts and ludicrous notice periods, hardly anyone less than 8 + months in arrears is facing eviction at present.
Universal Credit Housing Element rates have been generously increased to in excess of market rates in some areas so there is little genuine excuse for anyone falling into such serious arrears.
Such a move is abhorrent to natural justice. Major supermarkets are not ‘required’ to invite a thief back in every day for a year to steal yet more, however, ‘keeping’ the Housing Element of Uni Credit is considered a morally acceptable stunt!
Ultimately the good tenants will suffer as more and more landlords simply give up and a reduction in supply worsens.

And still the Housing element of UC is given directly to the tenant. A simple way to support landlords, just a little bit, would be to pay it direct to landlord but Government not interested. Says it all really. There has been absolutely zero help for landlords.

Trouble is Chris, how to get something going with enough support. There just are too few and a lack of co-ordination. Really we need a body that represents landlords. It should be the NRLA but Ben Beadle's response to this news was as follows: “We welcome clarification that emergency measures in the rental market will be phased out in tandem with the overall roadmap out of lockdown restrictions,” So yet again, a clear sign that the NRLA is not on the side of the PRS at all....

Can anyone please offer some light on this extended eviction ban to 31st May 21,
I served a Section 21 Notice to one of my tenants. Giving 6 months Notice that expires on 15th April 2021, It was served on 9th October 2020, allowing a few days on top for postal recorded delivery.
Does this now mean that when 15Th April comes, and the tenant remains in the property, that I cannot start proceedings until after 31st May 2021.

Robert Jenrick is on the Face book, I am wondering why there is no such comment put under his face book page. asking him that you have been waiting for 18 months to get your property back, where is the justice!
