Don’t call me a landlord?

I'm a landlord. I'm proud of being a landlord. I could describe myself as a landlady but I don't.
I provide housing for people who aren't ready to buy a house yet or who have lost a house due to divorce. I'm equally happy with long term tenancies lasting decades or short term ones lasting a few months. If other people are jealous that's their problem.
"Housing provider" is too broad a term. It could mean builders, Councils, Housing Associations, BTR, PRS landlords or B&Bs. I don't want to be lumped into the same category as Social Housing or Build to Rent co-living.

The only confusion with the job title "landlord" is that some people think you run a pub.

Surely the problem here us that for the last few years the government (both types) the press and social media have all worked hard to demonise landlords or whatever else we call ourselves
We all know that the vast majority of us provide a good and essential service to our tenants
It's the tiny minority of rogue landlords that tarnish the title of landlord for all of us it is those people that need to be renamed as criminals and driven out of the industry
I'm sure that even that would not stop the inane ranting from the likes of generation rent and shelter but the only way to deal with those is to ignore them

I do not regard myself as a landlord as a direct result of the hyped negative connotations this has come to mean.
Clearly the Labour gov regards landlords as those who do not work and who have only bought property as an asset investment. I clearly don't fit that criteria, and nor that of how HMRC see me either.
Ergo if anyone asks I am a private property manager.

I remember settling on Proprietor a few years back when the car insurer I was with couldn’t seem to cope with property landlord as an occupation.

On other occasions I thought I had settled on a correct description only for the renewal invitation to arrive a year later showing Property Developer or some such.

I have felt strongly that "landlord" is an absolutely inappropriate and damaging title to its perception and reputation.
During the committee stage of RRB I wrote to parliament about this, although it was a bit off topic. I would like to see a movement from LL associations and the Guild etc to collectively push for this to be replaced with " Property Owner". "Residential/ Commercial" could be in brackets if necessary. Not a flowing title, but an accurate one other than for Rent to Rent etc which could be called "Property Controller".
Psychologically the word "Landlord" instantly creates a barrier between you and your client, as though you want to look down on them rather than have a partnership.

I quite like being called a Landlord.
I am not a property or housing provider. I am the Lord of the Land my property sits on and I allow my tenants to live their. It is not their property, they simply pay rent to live there.

The word Landlord is stigmatised as evildoers.

More accurately we are APGLs: accommodation providers governed by legislation.

Many companies have rebranded to sound more attractive.

I am a Landlord and I intend to remain a landlord

Certainly not Lord of your Land when you have no guarantee that you will have possession of your Land.

Courts are not giving all Lords of their Land possession back.
