I was aware that the conservative MPs are in denial.
Having looked a bit further I see that this is a consequence of encouraging corporations to own homes to let rather than individuals who have a conscience.

I don’t know about that, but whoever signed that deal on behalf of the council should already be in jail imo. It really should be looked at as misconduct in public office.

Let’s hope this is a sign that the tax wil be in new purchases do they know something we don’t ?

I don’t think the PRA rules state that the new underwriting rules should be applied to remortgaging (as long as it doesn’t involve new borrowing) so they’re just following government guidance really. I don’t know why the other lenders are going one step further, if indeed they are?
