Great article about Osborne’s hopefully inevitable demise. Once the leadership election is underway then my wife and I will be (temporarily) joining the Conservative Party to have our say in who is next – BoJo is of course favourite but the last election and EU referendum teach us to take nothing for granted. I have even heard talk of a possible General Election as the new boss will want to get the mandate of the people (especially with no competition from a weakened Labour) I’ll be writing to all the candidates about their thinking on PRS/Clause 24/housing policy. I have already written to our local MP who got it wrong by standing for Remain – out of touch with her electorate- for another audience This is surely our window of opportunity now to ask again that MP’s speak out on Clause 24.

I firmly believe that George Osborne’s support for Remain was the tipping point towards its narrow defeat.

Post election he betrayed a sizeable chunk of his party and its followers, motivating them to oppose him almost regardless of the cause.

They were loyal hounds. But then because he starved them, they had to eat him.

GO stated that the UK is in position of strength… Really? Does not he remember what he said 10 days ago? Surging Leave Votes 6% up in one day?
I just cannot believe he has an audacity to show his face again, allying with Leaves!
Hands up who believes he has ANY credibility left.. Disgusting fight for a position of power.
    OUT!!!
On another thought – he might be welcome with open arms, for his invaluable contribution to Leave case!
    LEAVE!
He only cares about his career – no decency whatsoever. I hope he will not become a PM…

I totally concur with you on this. This man who threatened to bring an emergency budget, has somewhat changed his tune. One thing I noticed he has somewhat lost his condescending tone and seems less confident.

Equally, I believe he has no credibility left whatsoever, he can not been seen in public let alone becoming our PM. At least, Cameron has PM spirits and did not opt to change goal posts just to cling on to power. I think, “Remain” campaign mainly lost due to Gideon being Cameron’s chancellor.

If you wish to have a say in who becomes the next leader of the Conservative Party (and therefore also influence trying to get shot of GO as Chancellor as well, potentially), you will need to grit your teeth, take a stiff drink and join the Party. This must be done without delay – only those who join before 1st of July will be eligible to vote. It would also be worth seeing if any family members are willing (especially if you offer to pay for them). It costs £25 or less, depending. Here is the link:
