    Hi N W L

I thought rogue landlords were in the minority, but at 10.52 today on Sky News, Richard Meier, chairman of the grandly named Urban Land Institute Residential Council, alluded to the majority of landlords as rogues.

Meier was on the air to announce the publication of its guide. He described how the rental accommodation that will be provided by institutions will be purpose-built for long-term rental, providing professional service.

He continued, with a grin, “It’s a very different piece to your rogue landlord, your buy-to-let landlord, who owns one or two properties”.

The interviewer, Samantha Washington said “It sounds good.”

The vast majority of landlords own one or two properties – and have just been slandered.

It may be repeated during the rest of the day.

This is the second TV broadcast in a week that was biased against BTL landlords, and propagated misinformation about them, featuring someone with a vested interest in an alternative to them.

I wonder if Osborne and Gauke’s Treasury of Misinformation is co-ordinating this campaign against us

The interviewers should be challenging these comments. You only have to go on Rightmove and search for properties to let and it will show a selection of properties, most with internal photos and it is clear that the majority of these properties are of good quality.

PS – and probably at a lower monthly rental than what will be charged by large corporates.

    Hi N W L

No, you are not a rogue – but you might be competition, if your properties are where the institutions want to build. So if you are smeared as well, it’s all grist to his mill.

    Hi appalled

The thing is in a lot of areas I operate they are long established communities at the lower end people want to live there as there are generations living on the same estates etc.

Reading between the lines these build to rent schemes are aimed at young professionals near cities etc and most seem to be down south what angers me is tarnishing every landlord with the same brush it couldnt be further from the truth. Somehow we need to get together and get some exposure in the media of what it is really like to be a professional PRIVATE LANDLORD as it would open a few eyes it really would

For those who missed the slander, there’s no need to wait for it to be repeated – someone has kindly put it on youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Z6IBmpxors

Coincidentally, alongside the above feature was a selection of videos by Natalie Rowe concerning George Osborne’s alleged behaviour before he became the wise statesman that he is now.

The allegations might have prevented a lesser man from being selected as a candidate for MP in the first place. I wonder if they will affect his candidacy for PM.
