Defeatism, where???
I’ve also added a fresh approach to the “Open Letter” thread for people to consider using in their own lobbying – see >>> https://www.property118.com/open-letter-george-freeman-mp-conservative/76353/comment-page-4/#comment-58792

Hi Mark.
The defeatism to which I refer can be seen about a page back:
James Tallis:
The point that people have seemed to have forgotten is why this move is taking place. It’s not only to plug a hole in the national budget but to also bring stability to the property market by getting us away from a position of boom and bust that is an inevitable consequence of high leverage. Having a relief which allows one to leverage further is a direct contributor to this. See excerpt from bank of England below. I believe energy would be better spent talking about how to mitigate tax operating in the new regime as set out by the last budget.
Ewan Murray:
Agreed and good post James.
This is why i believe we can only mitigate the damage through business and tax planning and possibly influence the implementation.
We are not.gping to change the policy direction as Mark Carney and public opinion are behind it.
That is defeatism and I don’t like it.

To assist the RLA with their campaign I urge all Property118 members to complete this survey >>> https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/2DMVT5Q
It takes less than two minutes.
If you are looking forward to the tax regime kicking in and paying a LOT more tax then you needn’t bother completing the survey. For everybody else it’s a MUST!!!

Thanks for the link, just completed survey.
Isn’t it beneficial to start a e-petition now and get max signatures from all landlords.
I vaguely recollect if we achieve certain amount of signatures, then the matter would be discussed in parliament or so…

100,000 signatures required, that’s why it is so important for a leading organisation to start it and for there to be just one petition.
I’m hoping MyDeposits will start one because they have the most members and their members read emails from them very carefully.

I’ve just suggested that Vanessa Warwick urges her members to complete this survey.

I am meeting Michael Gove for breakfast tomorrow. I need something succinct and concise to say to him to relay to George. Can we put something sensible together please.

Maybe ask the owners of LandlordZone, Landlord Law and Property Hawk too if you know them.
This message is to anybody who posts on other forums, please get their members involved.
OK, it’s a bit of promo for the RLA but who cares? We’re all in this together!

I know they’re competitors, but on an issue of this magnitude I’d like to see the NLA and RLA collaborate as well.
