‘…has seen me priced out of the type of house I want to buy in the type of area I want to buy it for a lot of years now’

You and me both. This was the sole reason why I previously said that I could personally benefit from a HPC. Although there are no BTLers in the area where I live, just OOs bidding house prices up, as DG knew very well and couldn’t refute when I met him.

I chose to limit further exposure to the UK resi market around a decade ago. I think you may have mentioned similarly previously? I suspect you and I are not too dissimilar in age, some thought processes and logic to a certain degree. However I think you are playing with fire and v unlikely to encourage sensible debate by posting so frequently on that other intrinsically manipulative, very simple minded & often offensive forum you seem to favour for some reason?

I don’t recognise that as an accurate description of any forum (and there are a few) that I post on

The landlords tax position is of no concern to the tenant, if rents are put up 10% youll simply get voids or attract those who can afford the rent, this strategy may work in london but elsewhere is risky. The rental market is precarious govt should leave well alone its supply and demand landlord v tenant at end of day its a free market economy prices land where they do. Govt playing with fire.

    Hi Costas.
I’ve just signed it. Can you explain a bit more about it – preferably with an example? Thanks.

    Hello,

I’ve just signed up to ask a question, as I’m a bit nervous about signing one of these government petitions, specifically I’m worried about the names of everyone who has signed being shared with HMRC, then being used as a hitlist to target landlords – which seems to be on the government agenda at the moment 🙁

Of course, my income from my properties is all declared above board, and so on – but an audit from HMRC is a costly inconvenience.

Does anyone have any idea whether the list of people who have signed the petition is available to HMRC – or is there a system of Chinese walls in place, where this information cannot be shared between government departments?

    Thanking you in advance,

    Nigel
