We all seem to agree we need to come together as a force & fight the bigger picture. BUT HOW? We’re struggling to get our own community to understand the impact of clause 24 let alone the bigger picture. Only 32,553 signatures to the e-petition out of an approx population of 1.5m landlords + approx 4-8,000 letting/managing agencies (depends where you get your data from) says it all really. We need to get the landlord & letting agent community fully engaged first & fast ie everyone must sign up to Mark’s daily Property118 mission (which I’ve been doing to help get the message out there) but am at a loss of what else to do to engage our fellow landlords to help us go to war with the Government and/or EU Commission

Interesting. Scroll down until you find the section on Sir john redwood mp. He seems to be on the side of landlords. Is anyone in his constituency? Even if not – it could be useful to make him aware of the real picture facing landlords.

“It’s easy to blame the landlords, but sometimes in politics you have to do the unpopular thing and I am very happy to defend most decent landlords. They are the solution, not the problem.

“The danger of Labour’s rent control, interventionist, tax a landlord policy, is that they will make the problem worse.”

Maybe he is unaware of the real damage his party the Tories are doing to the sector?

I take back everything I said about him – when he couldn’t sing the Welsh national anthem etc.
How refreshing to hear one person in politics speak up for us.
I’ve made a note to write to him and hope others will too.

Yes the Greens may have appeared to have taken a more holistic (or even holier than thou for attempted political gain?) approach… but who knows, in the unlikely event they had got in to power perhaps they would have also gone the way that blue or red have usually historically gone once in power and looked after themselves by supporting whoever had the deepest pockets?

Your other forum, the one where they seem to continually claim that all encumbered / non incorporated LLs are scum/spivs/dimwits innit, whilst the other LLs (ie the majority, the ones not affected by Clause 24) are without question descendants of Mother Teresa somehow looking to help HPCers by genuinely levelling the playing field … sadly are very misguided and in for one hell of a reality shock. Once again.

I don’t think we will ever know what the Greens might do if they got into power from a GE… it remains almost inconceivable. But, if they keep getting policies adopted like this one, maybe they don’t need to!

I don’t recognise your description of ‘my’ other forum

If at least 10 people on here could share their stories with sir john redwood in a similar way to the treasury submissions, including alternatives to the proposal, it may go a long way in getting an amendment to clause 24. His email is [email protected]

I will be writing to him along with Ros… Anyone else?
