Free property alert from Land Registry to avoid property fraud

Hello, you might wish to sign up to Land Registry’s free alert, when anyone makes a search on one of your properties:

https://propertyalert.landregistry.gov.uk/

There are rare cases of fraudsters / tenants changing their name by deed poll and approaching a solicitor to sell the property, as can be gleaned from the first 5 minutes of this 15 minute podcast –

They are targeting absent or older landlords and you can receive an alert on behalf of someone else – up to 10 properties free.

(However if you are flying under the radar as a Landlord you are telling gov.uk about your rented properties I guess!)

This is a very useful service and if you need more than 10 properties monitored you can set up more than one account.

I believe you get 10 properties per email address.

If your email service provider allows the setting up of ‘temporary email addresses’ or ‘aliases’ that result in received emails being passed to your primary email address, then that is the way to do it for more than 10 properties.

I set up my normal email address xxx.co.uk and then xxx.com That worked fine for two accounts

Does anyone know if this fraud has happened to Scottish properties? Is there a similar property alert system for the Scottish Land Registry?
