Please kindly sign my petition to change the rules for the Housing element part of universal credit.

I am a social landlord who is being affected by the poorly thought out rules for the housing element part of universal credit.
The system was fine under the local councils but so far Universal credit has cost me over 30 weeks in unpaid rent.
Problems for over a year plus now not acceptable!

Rules that need to be changed ASAP:
1/ Only one office to contact – every time you call you get through to a different centre.
There is no hierarchy chain so you don’t get far and there is no accountability.
2/ Speed up call waiting times – 20-30 minutes is too much.
3/ Allow landlords to have the option of being paid directly as standard if they require it.
4/ One journal entry giving landlord permission to access information rather then new journal every time as we don’t always live close by.

Done. They won't listen though unless get over 100,000 signatures.

And even then, us Landlords at bottom know the answers, but them idiots at top not got a clue.

They making all the same mistakes LHA did in 2008 when it came out. Local Housing benefit staff know the answers, but UC won't ask em.

Ive been asking UC to make third party payments for one of my tenants for 14 months now, during which time I have submitted 11 (yes, eleven) UC47 forms for this one tenant, and not had any response from UC. I've tried submitting them by email, and by post, but still no response from UC. I've now sent in a formal complaint to UC about this (not got a reply yet). In the meantime we have had to issue possession proceedings and it went to court last week and possession has been granted from 1st May. This is an example of how crap the UC system is, how they ignore landlords, and how they cause evictions and homelessness!!!! - Will the government ever learn to work with private landlords instead of against us???

Unfortunately Bill Irvine refused to help me when I contacted him in the past (about 3 or 4 years back) as he was not comfortable with me leasing some of my properties to my company to rent out. Rent to rent agreements are much more common now, so perhaps a bit more widely understood and acceptable?

He got a bee in his bonnet at the moment with wanting to take cases to ICE and UC DWP idiots constantly getting it wrong after all these years.

Done. The link came to my email address straight away.

You might want to get it on a few landlord FB pages and also ask the RLA and NLA if they will send out the link, to get your numbers up
